Mission - Recovery
Objective - Arbites APV
Teams
- PDF -
Franklin (leader)
Bududski (Heavy)
Fry (Shotgun)
The Roman (long las)
Chang (Riot shield, power maul)
Pierre (las gun)
Pierce (Shotgun)
Felix (las/chainsword bayonet)
Glorious George (powermaul shield)+ K-9000 (TEETH)
Orks
Steelgob (leader)
Deadeye Dunkin (heavy)
Bigjobz (shooter)
Gygax (shooter)
Quickdraw Mcgraw (twin shooters)
Ugrok aka Ripper (claws and blades)
Thrukk (flamer)
Uzgob (shooter)
'Sneaky' Garshul (power maul, shield)
Stikbomb Stevens (Stikbomz)
Turn 1
General advances into cover both sides pretty much run forwads, 2 filthy Orks make it to the APV and attempt to start it up.
Turn 2
K-9000 Charges into the Ripper, Felix and Pierce move into firing positions on the right hand side, George and Pierre continue forwads as does Fry and The Roman. While Captain Franklin and Bududski go up a level to try and get in a better firing position.
Felix seeing he has a clear shot at Garshul over on the left takes it and hits him clean in the face facing putting him OoA. With the only shooting done its Robo-Dog vs Robo-Ork and once the dust settles all that is left is bits of Ork between his teeth, however, BigJobz sees this act and is none too pleased. But with Glorious George and Chang running in behind surely they can prevail?
The Orks 'shooting' mainly involved grenades, which thankfully were off target and bounced harmlessly away. The ork heavy with a Kustom Blasta is now in position though for some dangerous turn 3 action.
Orks get their first kill as Bigjobz takes down K-9000 in closecombat.
Turn 3
More movement, all PDF are now halfway across the table and closing in on the APV, while Bududski and Franklin take the left side they hear Orks getting closer so Franklin tosses a frag grenade at them, which blasts Gygax from the walkway and onto spikes below killing him instantly.
Luckily Shooter Mcgraw was quick enough to dodge it.
All available units open fire, but all fail to wound (thanks to some dismal rolls).
Now the Orks make their move and let rip. Thrukk was less than pleased with Gygax getting blown to pieces so brought his flamer up and set fire to Captain Franklin who dropped and took a flesh wound...and was on fire. Bududski luckily avoided this. Stickbomb Stevens then lobbed a grenade but was more successful this time by knocking Fry down a level, putting him down for the time being. Finally Deadeye up on the tower puts Pierre out of the game with a crack shot.
Now the combat. And things arnt looking to good for the PDF as Bigjobz chargers into Glorious George beating him down, also thanks to poor dice.
Chang is still in a deadlock against Bigjobz, but with GG down, strength in numbers and just plain strength are going to be an issue.
Turn 4
Poor Fry is still down at the start of this turn.
Time to regroup and come up with a plan B. This boils down to not rolling more poor dice.
The start of this turn sees the APV started up and the Orks trying to make off with it.
Start of the turn Franklin manages to put the flames out AND get back up. The Roman who has been snekily trying to outflank the enemy is forced into action and goes up a level to come face to face with Stickbomb Stevens and gets ready to show him why he is known as The Roman. Over on the right Felix and Pierce also get sneaky. With his shotgun Pierce moves RIGHT BEHIND the Ork boss and gets ready to shoot him in the back. As does Felix.
And Bududski kicks the saftey off the Heavy Bolter and lets rip at Quick Draw, who is killed stright out, blasted against the wall.
Then The Roman on the floor beneath takes a point blank shot at Stickbom Stevens and must of hit a grenade as he just explodes. Finally the Felix and Pierce miss horribly. FROM POINT BLANK RANGE. All they have done is attract his attention.
Chang does the impossible and lands 3 good hits but fails to wound (rolled 3 1's :-( )
Uzgob (who has been working the gubbins of the tank since turn 1) leaps from the moving vehicle and chargers into Chang as Steelgob chragers into pierce. Close combat is not what I wanted really.
The flamer put down Captain Franklin again putting him down AGAIN. One more and hes out of action.
Deadeye took a shot at The Roman but missed and in combat Pierce AND Chang fell.
At this point I could of bottled and ran but thought Id try one more turn....you know....just to see.
Turn 5
After the ork lept from the tank we decided it would move d6 inches in a randioom direction via scatter dice. So it lumbered on for 4 inches straight towards the Ork shootas postion. A hard enough hit could make him fall.
This turn both sides let rip with whatever guns they had left and all pretty much ineffective, but Boss Steelgob put pierce out for good and started making his way towards felix.
Turn 6
Fry got back up!
So one more turn was decided.... The Roman scurried up another level coming up next to Bududski and Franklin. Felix with his chainsword bayonet charged into Stellgob hopefully giving him an advantage.
The Roman took another point blank shot this time at the Thrukk the flamer who promptly exploded. Sadly this is wher emy luck ran out. Franklin finally succumbed to his fire injuries and The Roman and Bududski were hit by Deadeyess shot. But only Bududski fell. But Bigjobs finally shot the Roman down.
So it was Felix vs Da Boss. It went badly (CURSED DICE!), all the ones versus all the sixes. He never stood a chance :-(
With only Fry left standing and the APV crushed beneath the hive building lost (but with at least one Ork caught in its tracks) it was time to pull out.
