Hey Mates,
Got some cool news emailed to me buy a buddy who is stationed in Europe that got to go to FW Open day. Tons of cool cool cool stuff for Orks. But i will save that rant for another site. The news i bring here is just a bit of new stuff for IG...
There will be an upgrade kit for the Vendetta from FW. The Multilaser is replaced with a set of las cannons on top of each other. Then, the two under wing points are mounted with side by side las cannons similar to the SM Land Raider. Last little resin bit is a new nose piece.
The other cool thing they are making is a Vulture with a Punisher Cannon! It looks like a standard vulture with the under wing points with a burly lookin chain gun.
The pics i got sucked but the descriptions were cool. Im sure they will be hitting warseer and BOLS soon.
All in all.. more cool FW stuff.
Ren

Awesome! I can't wait to see the face of the enemy who has a Wing of 9 vultures swooping down on his arse with 180 S5 shots. Oh, the glory of the Imperial Guard/Navy! They are the best!!!

OH for god's sake! a plastic Trygon!?!?!?! hang on a minute, i swear the 2nd one there(the red one) is a FW model and the other one is a conversion of it. The black and yellow one is part of Phil Kelly's tyranid army, you can see it in the apocalypse WD (334). If this thing's been hanging around for that long don't you think they would have brought it out a bit earlier??? And i know the stompa was around at the time of the apocalypse release but the new nid' codex isnt due till next year (correct me if I'm wrong) why would GW hang onto it for THAT long?

New Nid Dex is further out than that. Next year's supposed to be 'Crons and Dark Eldar, then Inquisition, and that's as far as the Rumourmill is pointing to yet. I'd expect Nids relatively early in the next cycle, but wouldn't speculate beyond that.
That said, GW is starting to disconnect the Model release cycles from the Codex release cycles. The multi-wave releases for the Ork, SM, and Guard Dexes are something of a preview of the new scheduling.

I'd love to see an 'Inquisition' dex. The strange pseudo religious overtones of the 40k Verse really add a depth to what could be a flat, typically dystopic far future. The forces of The Inquisition really express the worst elements of religious fervor. The enforcement of dogma in place of freedom of expression, the villification of free thought, the promotion of paranoia with only 'faith' as the solution, the perpetuation of ignorance, so long as it benefits the powers-that-be...I think it comes across very convincingly in the 40k verse. Two of the short stories in 'Tales of Heresy', 'The last Church' and 'The Voice' look at the subject, and both do a good job of exploring the subject, especially in 'The Voice', via the blinkered, willfull (gleeful, in fact) ignorance of one of the characters (But I don't wanna spoil the story) I think the Inquisition is an element of the 40k Verse that could create a tangible and thought provoking parallel to the real world, and should be explored. Could it get controversial? Maybe, but the universe already contains daemons, psychics, immortality and Space Nazis (Chapters of physically superior 'Uber-Mensh' are sent to subjugate the galaxy and commit genocide against any opposition under the principle they're inferior, and huminity will reign over a superior regime? I'm surprised it hasn't garnered more controversy to be honest) But, aside from the heavy stuff, Vulkan absolutely rocks! I'd be tempted to collect Salamanders...

I think that the Imperium isn't quite the insanely harsh and illogical Pseudo-Nazi regime its made out to be. Yes it is horrific and genocidal BUT it does these things only so that the Human race can continue and remain free from alien slavery and cruelty.
On the subject of Imperial Genocide (otherwise known as Exterminatus) it is a completely necessary thing in the universe of the 41st millennium as it is the only real way that the imperium can hope to deal with certain situations and is never done lightly, only in the most dire circumstances. I think that you have got some of the finer details wrong, especially about the Space Marines being used to "subjugate the galaxy" simply they are not in fact the SMs are one of the most "good" factions the Imperium has with the Astartes' principles set in nobility and defending the weaker Imperium from harm. The real villains of the Imperium in the 40k universe could possibly be said to be the Puritanical Inquisitors who see heresy wherever they look, even where its not.

the SMs are one of the most "good" factions the Imperium has with the Astartes' principles set in nobility and defending the weaker Imperium from harm. I'd say that depends on the chapter. With Ultrasmurfs and Dorn's boys, absolutely. Dark Angels, not so much. And then there's always those idiot Blood Ravens... I think you all have raised a very good point. The Inquisition is a great touch that really helps distinguish 40k from simply alien killing sci-fi. They let you peer into the everyday life in the Imperium, and not just the battlefield. I'd say the Ravenor series is probably one of my all time favorites.

The Inquisitorial Dex is supposedly the all-in-one version. Possibly subject to change, though. This is all from stuff Jervis said at a Games Day (sometime shortly before the 5th Ed Release, I believe), so it was very solid information at the time it came out, but things do change. He did say that the Dev Team's main goal over the next couple of years is to get through the Updates for all the Dexes that didn't get a re-write in 4th Ed before moving on to a new Dev Cycle. I feel reasonably confident that it would take a pretty major upheaval to change that, but details may vary considerably by the time things actually get done.

The only other SM Dex on the list right now is Space Puppies, whose dex is so far out of date that it's practically unusable, simply because of all the things it specifies about Rules that no longer exist. Then Necrons and Dark Eldar, with Inquisition possibly at the very end of 2010, but more likely first half of 2011.
