You clear coated your people are shinny's they are very reflective of the light and what kind of paint are you using. I suggest using Vallejo paint it looks good and paints on smoothly.

Lol, Aeon... they're not teal -- they're med. to dark green, but I needed the mini bright enough to show you the details. And, crap! I missed the pins on the guy in the picture... Imagine that they're chrome. There's no coat of any kind yet. I'm cheap (I'd give a date re-heated leftovers {hey, leftovers are awesome}). They aren't that shiny IRL, it's just that the halogen spotlight is only 3 feet from the minis. I'll buy a matte finish coat when I'm done... maybe. I use the artist acrylics and the airbrush enamels I've got lying around in abundance. And this sexy spray lacquer I found on the kasrkin. The camera actually can't capture that paint in all its glory.

Really beautiful lasguns. How many of your Guardsmen will have wooden lasguns?

That would depend on how the roll for the crime of the penal squads works: one roll per game, or one roll per squad. If it's the latter, then I'll do two squads, and thus the answer to your question is either nine, or 18.

You're a better painter than I but... I just question your colour scheme. You say your Kasrkin are stealth troopers but... red and white, with gold details... really?
- Edit
Sorry, I'm not going to be a complete thingy about it.
The wood effect on your lasguns is simply amazing. I have never seen anything like it. Would you mind showing us the method of achieving that finish?

Camo colors are dictated by the terrain, and on a planet whose surface is red (iron oxide gravel) and white (snow) it's invisibility magic. But the red is too bright, and I've been wondering precisely what I should do about it.
If I can manage to replicate the wood grain that well again (it was a pain) then I'll post a step-by-step. I don't know how well pics taken in the studio room will turn-out, but I'll do my best, as always.

You could do each step and after each step is done take a picture somewhere else...

Or I just move the spotlight in here. You know it's bad/ awesome when you get into the zone, painting and you look up and it's not the same day anymore...

If you look on my How to: Wood Grain thread in the painting and conversions forum, there's a picture of my brushes. And yes, it is a little smaller than a guardsman's finger.

Here's one of the new sentinels. Not quite as pose-able as I'd imagined. The right leg will be standing on something -- I haven't decided what yet. Switching option between plasma cannon and missile launcher.

Ha, didn't realize that the new sentinels came with windshield wipers.
... ... ... Oh right forgot, and your army looks pretty cool, I like the close up shot of the face. How did you do the wooden rifles?

Well the Armageddon pattern armor has wipers -- but I wanted to use the other armor. Except, it has no roof... This isn't bad, though. And it gets a pimped-out roof. Here. Almost forgot -- it's been in camera card limbo for a few days:

Hey............ shut-up... Actually not quite twice, but I'd rather have the model. It will amuse me for years to come. And it's going into the painting comp.

I do not think anyone missed the fact the Requiem has the sexiest wrist in the Imperium, either. Personally the Guardsmen look really great, but I can't imagine how epic a commissar might look with the red camo. What might make the effect look better would be to add a death korp of krieg or steel legion commissar with the gas mask to give it that added fluff about the harsh weather.
Oh, and is it just me or does anyone else expect a wookie to burst from the top the sentinel?

Hello, ElegaicRequiem.
I think the color scheme is solid, but I'm curious if you are going to base the colors of your tanks a solid reddish tint or try and keep the same color flow.
And you better build that At-St well, because my Vanquisher is waiting, you scruffy-nerfherder.

Look at the other thread in painting and conversions. It's probably buried deep, though. I'm gonna laugh pretty hard when your silly vanquisher misses, and just because I can, the sentinel charges your tank in cc. S5 to rear armor of 10, it could happen. Beware. Anyway, I finally kicked my own ass into picking up a brush again, and I've finished those last four penal dudes who were giving me sad looks from my desk... My quota of two squads is now done.

No, it's a special alloy under development -- cardboardium. If it works, the Imperium may start giving cardboardium armor to guardsmen everywhere, tipping the balance of power in the galaxy back in its favor.
