Got any favourites? Whats your pick for the best? I think mine would have to be one of the following. Cross of Iron: Greatness, shows how harsh the eastern front was. Stalingrado: Same thing, more german side of the story, very good and wonderful action sequences. Gates of thunder: The heroic last stand on Hill 227 during the second chechen war. We were soldiers: Great!!! I loved it... what else?...hmm.... Battle of the Buldge!!! Hessler all the way!! XD Panzerlieder burning. So...post!

Apocalypse Now, A funny one set on the eastern fron that I can't quite remember, Saving Private Ryan (though it was too bullnuts-yankee patriotic for words, but the violence was good), the dirty dozen, enemy at the gates (stalingrad, but they should have used real russians instead of the most cissy actors imaginable), where eagles dare! (cool!!!) ..... will remember more shortly.

The Lost Battalion, I think that's what it was called.........anywho it's good.
Jarhead, not really a war film, still an awsome movie though.
I didn't like when we were soldiers much, not a fan of Mel Gibbson.

BEST
[glow=red,2,300]SAVING PRIVATE RYAN: [/glow]I love that film, I just wish for once it isnt the Americans who won the war... Us Brits helped too.
[glow=red,2,300]ENEMY AT THE GATES:[/glow] Just the sheer god damn mentalism of the Russians back then is enough to get anyone going, and if it doesn't, the sex scene will.
WORST
[shadow=red,left,300]THIN RED LINE: [/shadow]Woody Harrelson was in it, that just makes it bad alone, the story was rubbish, sorry for whoever died in this bit of the war but they made a rubbish film of you, oh and George Clooney - Who was in it for like 5 seconds. I bet he still got payed like 5 Million pound for it lol.

I liked most above. Lost Battalion was a great, if underrated, movie; really put *fog of war* right in your face. Refuse to see Jarhead (read the book, don't even get me started with inaccuracies, fraud and posturing...)
I read War of the Rats, the book that Enemy at the Gates was based off of, despite the alternating butchering/wimpy way the Sov's were shown, the book was OUTSTANDING.
Not mentioned but very respectable war films: Platoon (a little preachy), Hamburger Hill and Midway.

Yeah, war of the rats was...welll...its sorta true, I mean, the russians were in shambles, it was at stalingrad, after stalingrad that they turned it around and kicked the nazis back to berlin.
I loved enemy at the gates. Pearl harbour sucked.

I have never read, seen or interacted with the media of Jarhead, so, I will ask you in an entirely innocent fashion and purely out of personal interest what is wrong with it Mardaddy.

I loved Zulu, Black Hawk Down, Lost Battalion, When Trumpets Fade, Apoc. Now, S.P.R., and Starship Troopers(Its somehow is counted as a war movie)
Worst Starship Troopers 2(barely counts as a movie, more like something worse than a stick in the eye) The Last Drop, The Bunker

Enemy At The Gates was an amazing Film.
Especially the sniper scene, where the two troopers were pinned by Ed Harris, and the woman snipes him in the hand.
