From warseer via BOLS:
More word on the Warhammer 40000 version of Mighty Empires.
"With regard to Planetstrike being released in June, the Planetary Empires expansion pack, which was seen at Conflict Scotland: 08, is finally due for release in July of this year- a month after Planet Strike I believe.
The box contents are similar to that of Mighty Empires, but obviously with new designs. It contains the same size tiles, but with ones for cities, add ons for hive cities and the like.It is designed for being used to map out campaigns, and is just a very nice thing to have as a GW enthusiast.
The boxset, along with all new tiles and new things to put in tiles. The boxset contains the new Planetary Empires rulebook - what was seen at Conflict Scotland: 08. All the changes needed - such as taking out the Baneblade artwork in the workshop - have been made."

That sounds amazing! I'd love to run a proper campaign - kind of like 40K: Total War, but with decent storytelling ;D

Finally! I know Fantasy has had their little bump-free campaign for years, but now WE get something a little more smooth than 40k Risk. With battles. I'm just wondering: obviously, this won't be Mighty Empires IN SPACE!, but I really have to wonder how this is all going to work. Will their be gold, or some form of currency? How will they address the problems that this raises (I'm sure the Necron Lords don't pay to activate their troops)? Will their be rules around the fact that the Eldar use Webway gates, Necrons phase in and out, SMurfs use drop pods, etc.? Just wondering.

also, I'm seeing it having campaigns based off planets within a sector. So costs for moving them around etc?

not if they want to mass sell it (not enough new people play it). Though i am sure some people would find a way to integrate it.

maybe a bfg style gamer for ME? that sounds kool.
Anyway, I can't wait for Planetary Empires, it sounds like what we've been waiting for, and also what has been eluded at in the recent WD's.
Sounds fun! ;D
