Anyone hear anything if gw is going to have a upgrade kit in order to make a vendetta?

I've bought 3 SM dreadnought las cannons and 12 heavy weapon team Lascannons to scratch build my valkyrie to vendetta kit.

You bought them for this, or you already had the parts? Sounds like FW would have been cheaper.

I bought them from Bitzbox with some other stuff. I reckon the Valkyrie to Vendetta bitz would have cost me something shy of £20. Even if that is more than 3 forgeworld upgrade kits, I do enjoy making my own stuff. And modified kit goes with the fluff of my unit.
When it all goes wrong and I've super-glued it all to the Valk in on big plastic blob, then I may order some Forgeworld kits. Along with some new Valkyries.

Congrats. Have a drink. On-topic, I plan to use the Valk more than the Vendetta. I mean, other than the lascannons, what is the difference?

I'm totally going to use a vendetta, those twin-linked lascannons are too good to pass up. It's totally going to fill my tank-hunter gunship role.

Yeah, the Vendetta is amaizing at crippling armour. I took 3 in an Apoc game recently (proxied by paper airplanes), and they killed or rendered useless 7 Tau tanks, even when they had those filthy Disruption Pods. I suppose it's desgined to deal with Landraiders and Monoliths, but they really do crush armour. I can't wait to fight my local MEQ player's Predator and Termie Squad with a pair of them.
Anyway, to answer Mr. Man's question, the difference really IS the lascannons. The Valk is great at slaughtering Orks, Guard, Tau, and Nids, especially with Rocket Pods and the like. I personally think it's also the better transport option, as it's a bit cheaper, and can effectivley take on several roles. The Vendetta, on the other hand, is all about it's 3 twin linked Lascannons. It kills armour, and does it very well, to the point where having them carry troops can be a distraction from what it does best.

Reds makes a good point about the difference in roles between the two. However, when it comes to the vendetta you could have a squad of vets with demo doctrine and 3 meltas to help with tank destroying capabilities. This might be overkill though, i doubt that you will ever need 3 meltas, meltabombs, 3 lascannons, AND a demo charge (unless its a squadron). But hey its your decision.

Overkill? We're the guard, dammit - Overkill is what we're all about!

Not overkill if it's a monolith

It occurs to me that, out of all the vehicle squadrons we now have, the valkyrie/vendetta squadrons are the most practical. Immobilized already means destroyed for skimmers, and they're cheaper than LRBT's. Plus, they can try to dodge attempted ramming. Sweet.

they might be amune to raming because they are flying

You can ram skimmers, it's just a huge pain because they are able to dodge it and force vehicles out of position.

The Squadron Rules are definitely much better for Skimmers than for Land-bound Vehicles. I was on a bit of a Ravenwing binge for a bit, and the Speeders were noticeably better in Squadrons than separate.

And, if you're truly deranged, (welcome, brother) you can ram stuff with the skimmer. The valk/vendetta is a fast vehicle as well, so you could ram the rear armor, moving 24". Both vehicles = gone.

However, you'd only want to do that if it has no weapons left and it's probably going to get shot down anyway. Unless you're insane like me.

Valks and Vendettas can't Ram. They aren't Tanks.

All vehicles can ram. It's just that tanks get a +1 bonus.
Edit: I take it back. Upon closer review of the rules, only tanks can ram. It's just not clearly stated -- and the way the rule is written -- it seems to say any vehicle can ram, at first glance.
Edit #2: Which is retarded. They should be able to... *pouts*

Yeah, it's not as well written as it should be, but Ramming is a special type of Tank Shock.

you can, however, still TS with a skimmer.

As long as it is both a Tank and a Skimmer, yes. For Example, Eldar Wave Serpents and Falcons can both Tank Shock and Ram.
