I ave been thinking of starting an AC list but don't know where to start. I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers and ideas of what to do and not to do as well as smart comp. when building a list like an AC one.

Im going to give you the same advice I was given when I decided I felt like doing some armoured company stuff.
Firstly and most importantly, do not use doctrines. Never ever not ever. They make your tanks too expensive. In 2000 points you need to have 8+ leman russes. Sponsons are key. Otherwise you cant get enough firepower to wipe the board. Stay cheap with upgrades! You dont need your tanks to have more than 0-2 upgrades each. Exterminators are awesome.
And uh, thats all I can really remember. My list I believe consisted of: 2 Command Exterminators, a Vanquisher, an Exterminator, 3 Battle Tanks, 2 Hellhounds, A demolisher, 2 griffons.

that list would pop the bloodvessel in my forehead if I had to go up against it. ram, know that starwoofs list is legal and you are full welcome to do it, but the range of players you'll attract to battle with you will be the ones who come with guns loaded with cheese simply designed to counter your list and annihilate only tanks. the above type of list is an extreme and the only way to counter it is to field an extreme AT list. you'll either steamroll the unsuspecting player and never get a battle with him/her again so long as you play your armored company or come up against someone with nothing but lascannons and tank hunter skills. on the bright side, tau are always game to go vs armored company good luck with the army and list

I have an Armored Company and my friend who play Tau kicks my ass everytime we play. Those damn seeker missiles kill me. He brings max amount of seekers on all vehicles and I lose my ass. When I play against everyone else I win because it is so 1 sided!

armored company seems so popular for tournament IG armies - it's almost bizzare to think of a non-armored company IG tournament army these days.

On the side of Doctrines: Alternate Organization: Siege Regiment 6 Basalisks w/ Indirect Fire and Enclosed Crew Compartments, 3 Chimeras with Improved Engines, 1 Slamander Scout Vehicle with Improved Engines. 1,000 points.
Or for true nasty? Combat Patrol of 4 Basalisks (no upgrades): 400 points

basilisks have ordinance and are thus out for combat patrols

Tanks are vehicles thus they're out of combat patrols. ACs can do combat patrols. They have to rely on the good ol' infantry to do such things

I think chimera is the only IG vehicle allowed in combat patrols other than sentinels.

Afaik not even Sentinals are allowed, cause walkers aren't allowed. Or at least I hope that they're not allowed... And Chimeras are vehicles as well and somewhere I've read that vehicles get a 'no go' for combat patrols...

Afaik you can download it on any GW site. Even the German GW site added it, after the US and GB site had it already for more than 5 months

Knight> Vehicles are allowed. Any vehicle with a total armor value (front + one side + rear) of 33 or less (12/11/10 is about as heavily armoured as you can get). Walkers are in, but Ordinance isn't.

Hah, your wishes aren't going to be granted unfortunately, a Chimera with 11 side armour practically isn't even a transport anymore. People would use them as armour and mechanised companies would become commonplace. There has to be an element of risk with the added protection of vehicle armour and movement.

heh I just looked at the title of this thread: 'armored company' and realized there's an AC doctrine that gives +1 to the side armor of vehicles, so 11 side armored chimerae is a reality

yummy side skirts.
I took the side skits template that is on the armored company second of the Games works shop site. Stectched it to the side they suggested that I make and mass produced them on plasticard. I am waiting to attach them until I get more magnets. I dont like to have add ons that I cannot remove because I have people who are major "wizzy Wig" rules lawyers.
