I have been looking at putting a Hydra in my Battlegroup and was wondering if i should or shouldn't.

If you're talking about the Hydra flakgun I think you should. 2 twin-linked autocannons with 72" range could deal out a good blow. Tha Hydra are good against both high T enemies and light to medium vehicles.

Only down fall is that it is a FW model and some players will not allow you to use it because it is not in the basic codex.

I must be a very lucky person, since my opponents always allow me to use FW units...

I would say very lucky since most of the guys in one of my clubs here in turkey have said flat out no to FW models.. then they went out and bought rhinox riders I think they are just scared of a company of baneblades in a megabattle one day and not knowing how to handle them

Think of how wonderful it would be if Gw added the Baneblade and all the other FWmodels in the new codex. It won't happen because the limited space that each codex have. But it's still nice thought.

Curt does your entire IG force consist of forgeworld models? and if so can you post.. cause then I can show my wife that someone is more GW crazed than I am and I should be able to convince her to me ordering FW models Baneblade, Thudd Guns, Heavy Mortors, Vanquistor, Hydra, etc...

BOL No Unfortunately Not ..... I Only Got a Forgeworld Warhound, a Eathershaker Carriage, a Destroyer And a Hydra .. (Trust me, I Had To Do ALOT od Sucking Up for the Warhound And Earthshaker) ... I got a Salmander but it's a Converted Model from parts I had in my Bitz Box ... These Models I Picked Up After I Volunteered at Games Day (You get a Great Discount for helping Out) but It Helps That I DO live near the Canadian HQ as well .... as Oscar Wilde once Said 'The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it... I can resist everything but temptation'[/b]
As soon as I get a better Digital Camera, I plan on Taking Pics of my Army .. (My other Camera WAS a POC)
Side Note from His Wife, Maxine: I Constaintly Have to Tell him NO so I understand her pain ... especially when I WANT some Models too!! And He'll Have to REALLY suck up if he wants Another Titan Or a Baneblade

yeah living near the canadian HQ would help.. instead of Turkey.. the country that GW forgot.. not full arabic, not european, not asian, not africa.. just Turkey.. everything costs more to get here and to leave this country.. one day though.. when all the rest of my models are painted i will splurge on a nice titan or baneblade.. or both

The Hydra is actually a very good vehicle to have in any armour heavy unit... I could have used an AA gun when I was playing Orks last with my Iron Warriors... I kept getting strafed by his Fighta-Bomba and he took out my Basilisk and that angered me much haha

I don't like it... Unless you are in an unorthodox battle with flyers where it has some sort of purpose it just seems rather pointless to me...

You Obviously Haven't Used the hydra as Anti-infantry Tank .... My Hydra (Nicknamed the 'Emperor's Kiss') has Completely Wiped Out So Many Squads with Devastating Salvo's That I've Lost Count ... And I'm Including Squads of Space Marines (Including Terminators), 'Nids, Necrons, Orks (Love this Baby Against Orks), Tau, Eldar 9And dark Eldar) AND Chaos, Even fellow Guardsmen ... I've Had ALOT of players Think I got my Hydra as a Anti-airattack Vehicle And on those Rare Occassions that there IS a Flyer, It HAS come in Handy But they Never Think Of It for Anti-infantry ....
