the only other achilles heel is that if you don't move it, it's hit really easily in melee. thanks woz Thats why I normally have my HW teams and an Infantry platoon sat round it.

sounds squishy but effective. I love the new 4th edition melee and line of sight for shooting rules regarding vehicles - makes this all the better.

HK missiles are 10pts for one lousy krak-missle shot at BSX. I forget if you can fire them at seperate targets from the vehicle, but they still suck unless you are up against a team heavy in light transports. (Speek Freeks, Dark Eldar). Plus I tend to forget about my vehicle upgrades in battle. Untill Turn 6, when it's all I have left and I remember...

yeah, I've had um...every gun but the heavy stubber.. blown off my demolisher (and it was immobilized) but I've never taken so much damage that a weapon destroyed is turned into a vehicle destroyed on the damage tables. that's perhaps one reason to take the HK. when you don't move and shoot though, it would really be nice to have that extra 'power die' as I like to call it. the high point cost and low number of dice you toss when volleying with the lesser guns on a demolisher is kinda sad - the heavy stubber helps with the volume (3 dice become 6) but a 4th 'power die' would be pretty sweet for when you get that one good shot and sit and try and level something.
I'm happy with my demolishers as is - heavy stubber, no HK. I wouldn't gripe about someone who went for the HK though, because as stated above, the extra power die you get to toss that one shot per game can really make a difference (think of it kinda like a 1 turn per game similar version of sharpshooters - extra die instead of rerolling 1's... you get the same basic benefit.. it's a nice option to have).

Because of the strengh and the ordance table. Though personally I use baslisks for tank hunting due to ordance barrage rules.
