Hey I was wondering if I can include a griffon in a normal IG army, not an Armoured compay?

Yes the Griffon is still legal (as is the LR Exterminator)

As Woz has said, yes you can still use a griffon as part as an IG army. You just need a V3 IG codex to field it.

in tournaments that don't allow forgeworld rules you will likely have problems with your list being legal however.

The rules are in the 3rd ed Imperial Guard codex and they are still legal.

wow, they're allowing the old guard codex as well as the new one in for tournament play? that's gotta be confusing even if it's just a few vehicle entries. I bet the judges get sick of someone trying to pull a 3rd edition rule or stat or point cost out of the book and try to use it instead of the most recent codexs version.

The present IG codex came out before 40k 4th ed came out so it was designed to be used for 3rd ed and 4th ed rules.
The Griffon and LR Exterminetor were dropped through lack of room in the new codex, GW said that they were still game legal.
As they're in a IG codex and don't use FW rules then they "should" be allowed in tornaments. It depends on wether or not the people running the tornament know about GW's ruling them legal.
I'll try and fing the WD with the rule in.

I'd love to have a copy of that if you happen across it but either way, it's all good - not like I actually go to tourneys with my guard hehe.

TBoy, advice here. Download the Armoured company list from GW's website. There you wil have Griffon and exterminator rules.
If tournament managers make a fuss, explain to them very clearly and concisely (darkside: and using simple terminology) that the Grifon + the exterminator are legal. If that dosen't work, hit them in the face and run like hell.

Since this post is back from the dead and its fairly on topic I'll use this to ask. the LR exterminator and griffon are legal and so wouldn't need permission from a pick up game friendly etc right? I would presume vehicles like the salamander despite being in the armoured company would need permission? does this mean an armoured company should ask permission too? (slightly odd since who you're playing will surely know you have an armoured company but I'll ask anyway). Finally Does apocalypse mean no permission is needed for pretty much anything 40k and made by gw? although something like vdr probably still would I guess.
I know these questions are answered around the forum but piecing it all together is confusing me a bit. Perhaps a sticked thread covering all of the tank related questions like them would help?

I would assume that the other AC vehicles are still permission requiring and non-tournament legit. The only reason the griffon and exterminator are non permission requiring is that GW specificly stated this when they removed them from the old codex.
(I wish they'd just been smart enough to leave them in, it would have saved me a lot of hassle, but at least their ommision is definite proof of an anti-IG conspiracy within GW)
