So as I finish up my Neron army I'm going through all sorts of ideas for my next army. I started thinking about a fully mechanised IG army. I just had a couple of questions.
First, if I take Jungle fighters can I infiltrate a Mechanised squad (and it's chimera) in forest? I think that starting the game infiltrating "hull down" in cover may help the chimara's survivability, not to mention if the forest is big enough to completely block LOS on the sides and rear. Of course, moving the chimera out of cover if I choose to do so would be a risk due to the dangerous terrain test.
Also, can a pintle storm bolter and a pintle stubber both be mounted on a chimera at the same time? Having both of these and a heavy bolter would be great for retreating and firing (as they are all defensive weapons).
Any other recomendations on chimera upgrades would be appreciated. Thanks!

1. Tanks can't infiltrate, so Jungel Fighters and Mechanized is a waste of doctrine points. 2. Just 1 pintle mounted weapon 3. Reenforced Armour and Track Guards

take extra armour, it helps alot...and if u want some AP switch the multi-laser for a heavy bolter...that way u hav two heavy bolters and maybe a hvy stubber creating an effective fire base vehicle as well as a transport providing firepower for the squad inside.

Also you can make the turret with a twin-linked bolter! Go for the Stubber! Its awesome sauce!

stubbers are just like sauce, they make sumthing thats already tasty, and u got sumthing to put on top and make it even more ubercool. On a chimera, they reli do give u an infantry killer of a transport. giving it a turret mounted autocannon also gives it a punch against light vehicles

Jungle firghters and mechanized are could be good if you want to give your guys heavy flamers, but in general its not that good. As it is Mechanized is ok. If you want alot of good mechanized units you could always use grenadiers and mount them in a chimera and use the veterans ability and mount 3 of them in a chimera. That is over 1000 pts if you give them special weapons.

yeah, you can take Jungle fighters and Mechanized, but unless you're just providing your infantry a firebase, there's really no point. try Mechanized, Carapace Armour, Sharpshooters. That should give your guys some punch as far as base infantry. expensive as the warp, but hey, it works.

I have a friend that was given a beautifully painted Armageddon steel legion mechanised army just recently, probably close to 3k points. She had no idea how to play IG and asked me to give her a hand with it.The night i went to help her with a game she played a veteran dark angels player.Mostly what i did was give her a few tips on flanking, supporting troops with other vehicles and what to do with the sentinals.
I had to leave before her game was over but i heard that she pretty much whiped the floor with that guy. That said i am a big fan of the mechanised armies where even a newbie IG player can roll up a veteran player with a few pointers.Mechanised puts out ALOT of firepower so i would go with a mechanised army instead of a jungle fighters army.
mechanised, carapace armour and sharpshooters are great docs as mylespoweer said, i would go with those docs for sure or go straight grenadeers and mount them in chimeras.

as noted, mechanized and junglefighters really just means heavy flamers. in addition it also equates to even worse armor saves which may come into play due to the fact you've got more mobility and are thus more likely to see melee (where your armor save matters). I liked the carapace armor idea, though alternately, you could just go with standard flak jackets and move the infantry behind the tanks to try and keep them from being juicy targets. most likely the tanks will pose the threat and attract the fire, leaving the infantry free to advance unmolested (we hope at least!). cheap is good, so less doctrines can be more

If you're fighting MEQs, go for a multilaser and wound them on a 2+. Multilasers are amazing when you have BS3 forces fighting marines/necrons.

Thats why its always nice to have many turrets. Never know what your gonna be up against! And yes, let it be known that stubbers are sauce on the chimera dish! Also, mechanized are wonderful if combined with sharpshooters and carapace.

Mechanized, sharpshooters, and carapace armor? Sounds hideously exepensive, but enjoyable.

Yeah, it costs points but it is definitely worth it! Guardsmen that are tough as nails and shoot like they mean it, and then its off in their chimera to safety before the enemy gets too close!

Grenadiers, Hardened Fighters, Die Hards, Cyber Enhancement, Iron Discipline. Chimeras get autocannons and heavy stubbers and heavy flamers. Its good times.

Those would be like 15pt Guardsmen, which isn't even funny. You'd get eaten alive.
