MC=mechanized company?
I'd begin with a hq and 2 troops.
2 troops can be done a few ways for mechanized:
infantry platoon (3 chimerae)+armored fist (4 chimerae total) use the grenadier doctrine for 2 grenadier squads (2 chimerae total) dual infantry platoons (6 chimerae total)
I'm assuming you don't want to use conscripts due to their inability to take chimeras?

nope, they form a single unit of 20-50 troopers and thus are not transportable (carrying capacity limits) unless you're looking at a gargon (forgeworld: death korps of krieg line. big bucks to get one).
command platoons get expensive too as they can range from 1 to 6 chimerae depending on how many additional squads you attach to the platoon.

right on the carapace armor special equipment doctrine can get fairly expensive, especially for small squads.

how would pratorans fit into this because i want to do mc of them so if i take the mec doctrine i can use that with a normal platoon and the command squad and the normal squads are mounted in chmeras

with the mech doctrine, all guard infantry is mounted.
this means the command squad gets a chimera, each platoon squad gets a chimera, the command platoons command squad gets a chimera - everything must take a chimera if it's 'guard infantry' as defined by the codex at the opening of the doctrine section.
