Me and my friend were disscusing why one of our favorite hobby stores had a bunch of citidel paints on sale. He told me it is because they are going out of preduction. So, I was wondering if that is ture. If it is, which ones will go out of production (so that I can stock up now before it is too late!)?
Thanks for your help guys!

They're changing the bottle again to match the bottles the foundation paints and ink washes come in I believe.
Id est, new bottle, same price, less paint.

Stupid GW!
@all: I highly recommend Villejo paints! They're great! They're cheaper, have colour equivelents so you can find your colours, and come in a package that holds like 3 times as much paint

I have to admit, the new pots are better. For me, they dont dry out as quickly and they stay open. I'll probably still buy GW paints, but I think I'll look into those Vallejo paints, thanks Aeon.

I use fancy enamel and artist acrylic. I have good results from that, and you can buy a pack of acrylic that way for ~$10... the enamel is $4 for a 1/2 fl oz... so that makes up for it.

So they are not removing some coulours (terracota for example)?

I haven't heard any thing about it, and why would they? They've written practically all painting tutorials and instructions with the present set of citadel colours, why change?
EDIT: Just checked on the website, they don't sell any 'terracotta' paints. Have they done so in the past? Could you possibly tell me the specific name of the terracotta paint? thanks

there was once such paint as terracotta, now out of production. but, i'll tell you to buy (if you use) some stock of black GW basecoat. look for those blue cans, because the new ones, in black cans, i heard they are terrible, they left some grey leftovers or sth like this on minis. i don't understand John_Galt-> both old and new bottles are 12ml, so...? i actually think that rounded bottoms aren't a good idea...but after all the new ones are better then old, paints don't dry so fast. and last thing, i strongly recommend p3 paints, especially red (for classic commissars coats:)), they cover almost perfectly:)

I still have paints (and hence the paint tubs) from over 13 years ago now. Not one of those colours has dried out, even in Brisbane summers, and yet I seem to have to replace the newer ones pretty much every year regardless of how full they are. The exception is the foundation paints. Regardless if there is a drop in volume, I like the pot design better. jaxafett. Forgive me if I am wrong, but I though the Commissar's longcoats had always been black?

there was once such paint as terracotta, now out of production. I've still got a few of them, use them for Ork pants. Do they still do Ghoul Grey? I use that for my IG and my last pot is running low.

i don't understand John_Galt-> both old and new bottles are 12ml, so...? You might be right, but the price did go up a few months ago. (which made me sad) @aeon: do they have something like the foundation paints? (specifically charadon granite)

Why do they have to change the pots?
The new ones start to hurt my thumb to open once I've gone through a few colours...

Could you possibly tell me the specific name of the terracotta paint? thanks The exact name of the paint is "Terracotta" it is a reddish-brown (it looks just like terracotta pots, in case someone couldn't figure that out). There were also other paints like Bad-moon Yellow and Fiery Orange. What paints do they still produce? Is there anywhere I can go for a list and a "sample" (I just want to see what they look like). P.S. I don't think the GW website has all the paints advertised on it.

I get three colours from Vallejo - black, white and the afforementioned "terracotta" to base my Mars Guard. (Look at the Firedrakes paint scheme in the old codex).
PS: you do realize that the old pots and the new pots are both 12 mL, right? Same amount of paint, same price. If you can find your color in the Foundation line - use it. You'll be amazed if you haven't used them before.

Bolter & Chainsword created a very good Space Marine army painter...
All the paintable areas were customisable.

Also I think they only got rid of Bad moon yellow and Fiery orange because they've been effectively replaced by Macharius solar orange and Iyanden darksun from the foundation range. My guess is that if there isn't a similar colour in the foundaion range, it's not going to be replaced.

I have a few of them. I wish they put out a foundation paint for Catachan Green, because that is the main color I use and the foundation paints are way better!

Hmm... I hope they don't cut the production of more paints, that'd be annoying. I don't really mind about pot design as long as the price and amount of paint stays the same.
On a side note, I love foundations. Adeptus Battlegrey and Astronomican Grey are both used pretty heavily in my urban guard

No more Terrocotta!! What am I going to do for my leathers Guess that's going in the save pile with my old old old school Shining Gold (so much brighter than the current shining gold, like the mithril silver of the gold line) I just wish I could have grabbed more Chestnut and Yellow ink before they nixed that line.
