Pinning at -1 LD, generally barrage weapons dont need LOS (although this is noted in their range section). It then uses the Ordnance penetration chart for vehicle damage

can't all barrage ordanance be given indirect fire? Ordnance Barrage weapons by definition are indirect fire. All you really got to remember is Ordnance require LOS, Barrage dont.

should, but is the earthshaker cannon ordinance barrage? its in the IG codex, Pg 49. No, the Earthshaker -isnt- barrage. the indirect fire upgrade makes it barrage, but only iff you fire indirectly. If you fire directly, it isnt barrage even if you bought the indirect upgrade.

I'm scared of the earthshaker when I can't see it, but if its right in front of me with it's barrel leveled right at me I'm perfectly fine with it...... hmmmmmm......

ok, so as long as i fire inderectly, it will always play by barrage rules...cool!!! ;D (good bye orksies and so if it hits, they have to take a pinning test, right?

yes they will then have to test for pinning. Just be sure to observe the minimum 36" range for firing indirectly! I find that generally for the first two turns I can fire indirectly before the enemy are into the minimum range. (I usually only field one unless in playing a larger game)

a good way to counter that letdown is to have a squad of infiltrators/snipers fireing on the closest target to the minimum range, pinn them, and blow them up with the earthshaker it's worked for me on basic lists with a basilisk(heavy losses of "volinteres" of course )

True, indirect fire does allow for more unscrupulous commanders of the guard to 'accidentally' drop a barrage on their own men when they become engaged in combat.
And to answer you McCaptain: yes, its more terrifying if you can't see it because- you don't know its coming, and thus it has a greater effect on morale, due to the fact they can't fight back or even take cover from it.
