I am thinking of making my own Space Marine Chapter. I am going to call it "The Angels of Retribution". Here is how I am going to paint them: This is only an aproximate example, because I am thinking of using the dark angels space marines so that they will have the robes. In addition, I am going to take the heads with the hood overtop and put green stuff over the face so that it is not possible to see the face. Then I will paint the "void" (where their face used to be) black and only have glowing eyes comming out from it. As you can see, I used mostly a white and orange color scheme. I also added some yellow on the backpack (it creates the illusion that he has a halo over his head). In addition, I am going to give every model wings. For example, this space marine has the exact look I am going for with the wings: www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?categoryId=600004&pIndex=1&aId=3500006&start=2I will paint the wings with a white and orange color scheme. Play style: I am going to try and have a very distinct play style with The Angels of Retribution. I am going to deep strike practicaly everything. The only problem with this, is that I will have to have at least one squad on the field at the beginning of the game, so I have decided to leave my HQ choice on the table for the beginning. However, they will be in either a Rhino, or a Land Raider. My forces will mainly concentrate on Fast Attack and Deep Striking troop choices. I plan to bring my fight to the enemy fast, so that they do not know what hits them. For now, I will use the Blood Angels codex (because I already have it and so far, it fits the feel of my army). Later, I may switch to the Dark Angels codex, but I do not know how it will suit my playing style. Army Lists: So far, I have only planned an army list for 500 points. 500 Points: HQ: Company Captain Total 100 points Troops: Assult Squad Assult Squad Total: 280 Elites: 2 Death Company Models ( Plus 2 free ones) -Blood Angels Rhino -Sponsor Mounted Storm Bolters -Extra Armour Total: 120 Do you guys have any suggestions?

Yay, BA! The scheme loos good, and I want to see pics when you have one done. I've wondered what a "Tyriel" army would look like. Consider not gsing over the face, though -- that could get a bit messy.
With regard to your play style: consider planetstrike. Otherwise for dsing everything, consider vanilla or DA. Just because the DC need jump packs to ds, and it's not worth it. And that assumes that they can ds when they have the jump packs - it doesn't say they can. If you do use BA, never take a generic captain, take Corbulo. Hmm... I see what's going on with the DC. For a BA list, swap the captain for Corbs, and you can't have a better ds list @500. Just beware horde armies with those half squads, and make sure not to forget the smoke launchers. In larger games, make sure to upgrade the survivability of what starts on the table. It could be a few turns before any backup arrives. I'm don't recall much about DA, but I think they do have some nifty ds rules. Ask around.
Good luck.
Edit: I forgot... check around for wing bitz. That could get expensive on every guy, and you really don't want to try to sculpt your own. Unless you're a good sculptor, in which case - go for it.

Once you put on a Jump Pack you count as Jump Infantry, so DSing DC is possible as long as they have jump packs.

Just being cautious -- most of the time it's in the unit's special rules area when they can have the option. Mechanizing them to offer some early game support is a better choice, anyway.

I think Reds just answered the question there.

I will swap the Captain out for Corbulo (but I will name him something else). I have look around for wing bitz (at the website, is there anywhere else I can look?) and I have discovered that all the other wings would be either too big or too small. My idea is to get one of the Generals box set and take the wings off the standard. Then, I would probably be able to mold the wings so that I dont have to get a new box set every time. Plus, I think that it would be legal because the whole standard is patented but not that part of it. Am I right? I am just try gstuffing the face with playdough for one guy and see what it looks like... We will see from there.

I think all of a mini is protected. What I might do (and I don't know if this is legal either) is to copy the wings, and change them. Wings are wings, and if people don't go "Hey, those are the wings from the Empire General box set," you should be fine (if this is legal). Otherwise this can cut the cost in half over buying the box multiple times: www.thewarstore.com/product27888.htmlBut it's still a lot per marine.

Sounds like they'll be really scary when they're all painted.

Plus if they do ask, I could just say that I sculpted them myself. I saw that the other day, but I think it would still be too expensive per marine. Does anyone else know where I could get some wings that are not too big (I dont want one of my squads to take up half the battle field). I saw a miniature at a local hobby store that might have a good size for wings. I will buy it (like $3) and then try it with a marine. I'll post some pictures so that I can get your opinions.

I'd love to see it. Your op has re-kindled the desire for a Diablo 2 themed army... something I would likely already have, if I had more money... I have to find the fabric I bought for making cloaks for my marines... If those wings look good, tell me where to get them - $3 per wings isn't that bad, and it would make my day.

With BA, Your right that striking first is your best chance at kicking some serious ass. If you want to go with some Rhino's with the assault squads for free, it would help keep you moving around the table. They are free to assault marines, and will keep those power armoured bad-asses from being caught in the open. Really important, is take a chaplain instead of corbs. Corbs is meant to be seen, not used in space marines, while A chappy, is meant to... well to kill everything. At 100 pts, you get : 3 wounds, re-roll in assault phase( his squad... most likely DC(Tazmanian devils)), and a power weapon.
Besides he is a model you can build a great story upon.
And, with the fluff, BA Successors are always bad-ass compared to other Chapters: Angels Vermilion, Angels Sanguine, and especially Flesh Tearers.

The only reason that I don't want to give them a rhino instead is so that i can give them all wings and count that as a jet pack. I don't really care about winning (too much) instead, I want to center it around story.

A noble goal. Winning is over rated. *kicks floor*
Having an awesome story about your guys is awesome.

Yes, he is. Ignore him. You will be using the wing w/o the jet engine backpacks, anyhow...
I must see these soon! If you don't have pics w/in another week or two, I'm just going to buy the stuff to make them myself. Or at least one... and he shall become a true scale Sanguinius...

I want to see them soon too! I would have one done by now, but I have been too busy learning to save people's lives (I have been taking my Lifeguard courses). I will have a pic of them up soon, maybe (but it probably won't be painted).
