So I'm building a mechanized IG army bunch o chimera 3 sents and 3 russ. I was wondering about how to construct them.
I've never actually played 40k even though I built a CSM army before I just enjoyed constructing and painting them. However I hope to learn how to play the game and field the IG army I'm currently working on and thus want to make it legal to play.
So I was wondering about constructing the tanks/chimera/sents. With my CSM army I just built the vehicles the way I liked them to look, but now with my IG army I'm unsure. For instance I put the track guards on all my tanks cause I like the look of them. I however don't plan to take the track guard upgrade on my army-list. I was wondering if I should remove them.
Can you play vehicle models that have parts on them like track guards and dozer blades just for the looks and not take the upgrades on your army list? Or are you expected to have those upgrades on your army-list. Similar question about sents, since I like the look of them with armored cockpits. I make sure all my models have the proper weapons equipped but wasn't sure about the other parts.
Fortunately I have only base coated my models and thus can still cut off some of the parts if necessary.
Thanks for any advice

You wont have to remove them if you dont want the track guard upgrade. Yeah, you can have stuff just for the looks. Good luck!

Excellent track guards on all vehicles, extra armor on the armageddon pattern sents, and dozer blades look great imo. Nice to know I can stick them on without worrying. Going for a frozen cityscape look. ;D Even if I do never play I always can put them in a diorama defending a city from my old CSM iron warriors. Hope to learn and find opponents though.
