So, I've been wondering recently. I'm thinking about maybe starting out with a Grey Knight army, something small, like, 500 points, or maybe 750 points.
Could anyone put up some good Grey Knights tactica? Yeah, I know playing pure GK is going to be tough, but, I figure I'll like it.
Oh, and Melissia? Could you by any chance put up that link to the Water style Grey Knights?

They are close combat oriented to be sure. DOn't worry so much about them being a shooting force, but get them into the thick of things as soon as you can.
If you use the =I= as an ally to your normal guards list fly out a squad of the grey knights in your valk to help them get where you need them most.
The nemesis force weapon in the hands of a normal grey knight is still a power weapon.

For the rules on NFWs, get codex daemonhunters. It's more complex than what ssgtdude says.

Envoy... props for a relevent song. 'Unprops' for making me see Mr. Mercury.
Reds... the songs for the dead are not for me, but a courtesy to those I've killed. I am a sophisticated sociopath, after all...

more on topic NFW's for the normal gk's give a +2 strength bonus, its not a power weapon. Justicar's and terminator's get that along w/the strength. the grand master however gets the holier than thou force weapon that u should check the faq and silent requiems thread on. It seems that it one shots people regardless of eternal warrior or not. Cheese it is but gw doesn't seem to care lol.
I highly recommend The way of the water warrior whether u intend to play gk's or not. It is a very insightful take on 40k strategy.

Considering how much you pay for the Grandmaster, it's not entirelly cheese.

No offense to anyone that likes that tactica, but frankly it's the biggest bunch of crap in the world of 40k articles.
In the very first few lines he advocates cheating by measuring beyond the max range of your weapons. Then he talks about how smart he is, and how his preferred styles are "intellectual", while those he dislikes are "dull and single-minded". Finally, he unleashes his mad genius in the form of the following overreaching suggestion for all DH lists: "Spam Land Raiders and run away a lot."
Yes, brilliance. It should be called "Way of the Underhanded, Snobby, Ball-less Warrior".

Oh gee, sure, I'll place 25 Grey Knights right in front of a gunline. Want fries with that?
His suggestion is for GK lists. Frankly, I don't think you understand how out-numbered a pure GK force is.
So, what's your strategy for Grey Knights? Since it's so crap, you should be able to think of something better.
So why don't you leave an alternative GK tactica?
Oh, I know! I'll charge assault-based armies! Next, I'll be very manly and out-gun an IG or Tau gunline! Just to prove I have balls, I'll try to beat every army at their own game!
In all seriousness, I'd much prefer you'd submit an alternative tactica, rather than appearing to simply plain insult and slander another.
Afterall, someone as good as you should be able to create the best GK tactica ever, right?

I read that tactica to... and to be honest. The guy came off as an arrogant prat. But his tactica in general, makes alot of sense.
However, as he stated himself. If the enemy knows what they will be facing, the list would fall to bits. A well put togeather Tau or Imperial Guard army would take that list apart.

Or any Daemonhunters list. The codex itself is outdated, and underpowered/overpriced.

More importantly, am I the only one who rolls their eyes seeing a Marine with heavy bolter charging an Ork sluggaboy squad?

there is nothing special you can do with grey knights just face facts your out numbered every time, my 2000+ list is about 59 models
and get into combat and allow the high skill high strength to do its work, you never have the board width or numbers to do any flanking, there best defence is the shrouding, and psi cannon and incinerator ability to ignore in inv saves is neat but a bit of a side show really its the nemesis weapon that's there true power.

Actually, there are things you can do with GK lists that other lists can't do . They just don't make up for the weaknesses.
For example, every single GK is equipped with a storm bolter, which means that they can fire twice at 24" and still move, something no other regular infantry unit is able to do (Orks and Eldar can only fire 18" and move, for example)-- and the storm bolter is hardly a weak weapon in the hands of standard infantry models that fire at BS4.
