No,
if Inquisition is your core army(either DH or WH) you cannot take the new IG stormtroopers.
If you're using DH or WH as allies you can, but they remain elites.

Ymmot is correct. The Inquisition is (and let's be honest, it really always has been anyway) rather shafted in fifth edition.

Are you allowed to use the new profile for the hellgun?

As we've already said in this thread, no. Inquisitorial stormtroopers are used as defined in C:WH or C:DH.

You could take them as allies though...

No, you can't take Imperial Guard stormtroopers as allies-- if you play a C:WH or C:DH army, you cannot take C:IG elite slot units. You can do an Imperial Guard army and then ally in C:WH/C:DH though.

So if you take the inquistion storm troopers, you are stuck with ap5 hellguns, got it.

AP 5 Hellguns with TARGETERS!!! Those things are big time advantage. Don't deny the old Hellguns just because they don't have such a high AP. The old Targeters give you big time advantages. They just don't pack the punch the new ones have

The new stormtroopers are way overpriced anyway, who cares?

from topic to off: what would be a "good" size and eq or =][= stormies. As I'm planning a army of pure inq + SM or IG allies(propably by using inq as allies). They are fluffwise so neat I just need to have them, but how?(DH,WH or both)

Well, if fluff is your goal, Take an =I= lord from one, and the elite =I= from the other. Go from there, and write a story about why all this stuff is working together.

But if you insist? 10 man squads for defensive purposes (pair of grenade launchers), 5 man squads for offensive purposes (pair of flamers/meltaguns/plasmaguns). The only thing remotely good about them is that you can get two plasmaguns that fire at BS4 for 70 points.

I could see someone allying in a couple of small =][= Stormy squads with plasmaguns and acting like they're elite veterans with REAL hellguns.

Aside from the decreased range, and cripplingly short range on the pistols, and the ungodly high cost?

Well, yes... the stupid name. That's so fundamental, I didn't even mention it. As to the low S value, if they raised it, it would be better than thee fancy S4AP3 round in Sternguard bolters because the hellguns don't get hot. And we all know that the guard can't have any infantry stuff that's obviously better than anything the marines get. That would be heresy.

Thousand Sons have better stuff than Marines then. They have S4 AP3 Boltguns on Thousand Sons. They cost a fortune on the other hand, but they have them without any further disadvantages other than being carried by Rubric Marines...

Yes, and I think they have the "Relentless" USR, which, if I remember correctly, essentially allows them to treat any Heavy or Rapid Fire weapons as Assault weapons (Count as not having moved when firing, even if they have, and can assault after shooting).
