Mind you, these infantrymen cost as much as Grey Knights do (150 or so for five of them)..

And, again, if I remember correctly, they have Slow and Purposeful, so they only move d6in in the movement phase.

That's if the Sorcerer is killed.

Mhmm. Rubric Marines can still run around normally as long as the Sorc is in one piece.
And since why anyone would kill him off first is beyond me...they'll usually be fine for movement and shooting.

Agreed, just dump a pie plate on the whole squad and be done with them.

It's really only useful for the Vindicare assassin, as only he is able to actually kill off the rubric marine before the rest of the squad is killed.

And what should the Pieplate change? They use their Inv Saves instead of their Armour Saves then and still have a better surviviability than Guardsman. Only Problem their AT powers aren't the best with just the sorcs Lightning of Tzeentch
And killing Rubric Marines is what everyone can do. The Vindicare could try to remove the Sorcerors. Rubric Marines are just the dumb dust sealed in Power Armour. Not the intelligent ones.
Inferno rounds and Psy-Bolts are psy-charged...
Price for 5 of the Rubric Marines is somewhere around 175 as the sorc costs big time and is a requirement

The pieplate changes the status of about half the squad from "Alive' to "Dead", to be precise, killing off a lot of expensive models and seriously reducing the amount of that nasty firepower they put out. Also, given how expensive the squad is, losing half of them will hurt you just as badly, since you have less troops on the field (assuming you only field Thousand Sons, of course).
Also, I think she actually meant the Sorcerer, not Rubric Marines.

I thought the sorcs were the rubric marines, while the dustbins were plain old thousand sons, but then I can't claim to ever have given a damn about either.

Rubric Marines got created by the Rubric of Ahriman and are the dustbins.
Reds: Rubric Marines have like all Tzeentch people an Inv Save of at least 5+. Rubric Marines and their Masters have the 5+ version, Terminators, Ahriman, and all their Heroes have a 4+. So even when you hit them with a Pie Plate you will only kill few. And when the tank can see the squad the sorceror can fire his S10 AP1 Lightning at the tank (at least I think it was S10 AP1)
