There was some positive thinking expressed about this back in April, but no one has said anything about it since. Does anyone think that this will be worth $50?

I like it, but it really depends on whether you play campaigns. When combined with PLanetstrike, Cities of Death and Apocalypse (and possibly BFG and EPIC) I think this has the real potential to create some really creative back story to any battles.

Well, when you combine everything, you can just take notes, and then write a book. Something I've considered doing.

Honestly, I wasn't planning on it. I really enjoy making campaigns the 'traditional' way. Plus, all those little pieces would clutter this place even more, and would likely end up boxing in my thinking. I wouldn't mind having a look through the book, though, but not for $50. Maybe $15-20,

Well the box was released today. Actually had a chance to look at it last night. It is only five pages of rules. We do have the benifit of having the rest of the book rules in other languages. Oh well.
I can see this being used in combination with a campaign of planet strike, or used with other campain settings. It's all good though. The rules are pretty straight up and should be easy enough to make use of however you decide to use them.
Is it worth everyone having a set of this? Not in my opinion. I'll probably get one, but only because I plan on running an event on this scale, not because I think it is a must have item.

Wait, the book is only five pages?! This costs $50! Why? Little plastic hexagons are not worth $50...
Now I'm really un-enthused about this...

No the English rules are only 5 pages. The rest of the book is in the other languages they print in.
