my fav would be the classic multi-laser sentinels...they are cheap and the multi laser has good all round capability...high rate of fire and relative high strength...

Yeah, i like the multi laser to, its also cheaper compared to the cadian pattern in both money and points. S6 is really good against light veichles . Most people dismiss multi lasers which makes them invaluable flanking units.

I'm a fan of the multilaser as well, I tried an autocannon for a long time and it was reknowned for never hitting anything ever, so I added in an extra shot and that seems to have solved the problem. there was the thought of an autocannon/hunter killer sent that I personally think has some merit - 3 shots of s7 to s8 makes for a sentinel with greatly increased AT potential. some argue that the hunter killer is a one shot deal so isn't worth it, but I argue 'when was the last time you fired with your sentinel and it lived to fire again!?' lascannon sentinels are good too - they fill a need for move and shoot heavy AT. if you've got a land raider or something similar lurking in the distance using terrain to snipe on your lines, then being able to move and shoot some lascannon death into that target is appealing. for drop troops, multimelta (forgeworld) or heavy flamer sents are pretty fierce.

I've only tried my 1 sentiel with a heavy flamer, dropped it in next to some eldar and roasted most of a squad. Worked awesomely, but tbh, was very lucky not to loose the sentinel when it scattered.
I intend to change it for a multi lazer, love those guns.
Interesting note on the AC, cos I was going to take one of those, just stick with the MZ I recon.

I do like mostly Mars and Cadian pattern for the strength and or number of shots/range.

I'm a fan of the Support Sentinels (forgeworld, again). Specifically the Sentinel Missile Launcher. Krak or Frag direct-fire missiles, or fires as a Mortar. Eggs with legs feeling squishy? Keep 'em behind terrain and shell like a madman! (great alongside a mortar platoon)

wow an indirect sentinel would be amazing.
lately my sent has been enjoying the proliferation of a healthy compliment of armored units accompanying my company to battle - my sent hasn't been shot at once in the last 2 whole games!!
just gotta apply the 'infantry army' tactics for sents: use the scout move to keep them hidden, keep them at long range from the enemy, and provide juicier targets for the enemy to shoot at or assault. they do ok when they can stay under the radar and I do so love to play with my star wars walker!!!

Multi lasers rule, i havent really tried out the support sentinels yet, should be a good alternative.

I'm not gonna rely on my sentinals, I'm just gonna take a good-all-round support unit of two multilaser Mars patterns and an autocannon one.

Recenlty i've been expirementing with sentials and the two most effective in my opion are the multilaser, of course it kicks a$$ in any situion. and if tank heavy lascannon or infantry heavy heavy flamers. Sents are exleent in close combat in numbers (3 ussaly) combided with hardend fighters.

Autocannon, HK missles with drop troops doctrine for me.. drop them behind enemy vehicles, and aim for their tailpipes.. like TB pointed out before 3 shots with a st7 or 8 is pretty nice.. works well againest rhinos.. of course I support mine up with a nice storm or vet squad loaded with plasmas to kill those that unload from the rhino after the sentinal fires Cheers Gris

I'm using my Sentinels as Heavy Weapon support. Cadian armed, they move around the back taking pot shots and forcing targets into my HW's line fo fire. I've kitted them with hardened fighters so any direct assault gets a quick kick to the head.
