you must take two troop choices from Codex IG before you are allowed you take one leman russ.

It's true. I'd drop both =I= stormie squads -- their role can be fulfilled better by a platoon.

It's true they can. I'm just using my =I= as a parent list, shoot I didn't realize that about the russ....

The =I= Lord should have 2 astropaths to give you the free shot at infiltrators. So set him up near the Leman Russ.
Maybe you could drop the Vindicare and one stormtrooper squad to make way for anothe IG platoon.

You're thinking of mystics actually, astropaths are IG regimental advisors.
Plus witchhunter inquisitors don't have access to mystics anyway, I just like their powers/wargear better.

Thats some illegal inquisitor lord. He is carrying a sisters of battle only 2 handed close combat weapon aswell as a sisters only cloak.
Remember the blessed weapon is a 2 hand, so you cant use other close combat weapons at the same time.
Inquisitors are awful in close combat generally, the extremely expensive forceweapon wont help since he will still have to wound to do anything.
And like mentioned before, you cant take the leman russ without two infantry platoons.
Maybe you should switch it up and use Imperial Guard as the main list with Daemonhunter Allies.

Kaime is correct. A Daemon-Hunters Inquisitor Lord cannot take the Blessed Weapon, Rosarius, Cloak of St. Aspira, or the power "His Will Be done." Meanwhile, the Witch-Hunters Inquisitor Lord cannot take the Blessed Weapon, Cloak of S.t Aspira, or Teleport Homer.
So regardless of which you use, that is an illegal Inquisitor Lord.
Personally, I would say that if you insist on using an inquisitor lord, you do the following: Terminator/Artificer Armor, Psycannon, two Mystics, a Sage, and 3 Gun Servitors w/Heavy Bolters.
Add in a power weapon or thunder hammer, and it'll come out to around ~200-215 points, depending on what else you take. It'll be a shooty unit, no doubt about that, but it'll make the most of the unit's strength. Remember, if you take a Chimera, it is the one listed in C:DH (possibly FAQed), not in C:IG.

I didn't realise you were doing W/H. I just saw Grey Knights and assumed it was D/H. Mystics are a good bonus at the moment. The inquisitor is just too expensive, and he's only T3.

Regardless of which that they use, that inquisitor lord is using illegal equipment.
Also, Witch Hunters Inquisitors have crappier equipment than Daemonhunters.

I think blackarmchair wants his =I= lord to drive forward in the chimera and use his teleport homer to call in the Grey Knights. The gun servitors would be useless in that role, but some crusader veterans and combat servitors would help.
You already have the Grand Master as a D/H HQ, so you could just get an Elite Inquisitor and give him/her power armour, the teleport homer, some bodyguards and a psychic power. Don't overequip them like crazy.

Give them a thunder hammer if you want them to assault. They need the help, and THs are the same price as PFs anyway.

Some power armored acolytes with mancathers are a great help to assaulty I lords.

Mancatchers are a WH thing I think. DH inquisitors have access to the teleport homer, but not the mancatcher. And the thunder hammer is for DH inquisitors only, too.

The differences between D/H and W/H are so nit-picky.
Its almost like there's some admin. clerk sat next to the =I=, saying "No sir! You can't have the Leman Russ Exterminator, but there's one with a battle cannon just down the road, if you wait another ten minutes. What was that , sir? No, sir! You can't have Crusader Henchmen, they belong to the Hereticus, sir...."

Okay, fair enough. I can't have the Blessed Force Weapon but everything else is legit (it's a witch hunter's inquisitor).
I'm a bit new to =][= so sorry for all the mistakes. Cheminhaler is correct the idea was to have a cc inq lord who could call down knights. But perhaps a shooty inq is more worthwhile.
I'll toy around with this...

There is no such thing as a Blessed Force Weapon to begin with.
The Blessed Weapon is, itself, its own individual item. It's like saying you want a force powerfist.

The thing is that its too confusing having a W/H =I= lord with a Daemonhunter army AND IG allies. For one thing drop the Vindicare and one Stormtrooper squad to give you the 2nd IG platoon. It sounds like a good plan with the teleport homer(s), but the =I= lord still has too much wargear. If you want a psyker inquisitor then just some termie armour, a force weapon, psychic hood and a psychic power should suffice.

well...and Cloak of St. Aspira is for Sororitas Heroines only
you can take a force weapon but a blessed weapon is again Sororitas Heroines only...
what you might want a master crafted force weapon, that is legit.
(and btw a blessed weapon is a master crafted power weapon to begin with, along with the added bonus of boosting the users STR by 2)

Post by Melissia on Sept 16, 2009 11:56:00 GMT -5
Inquisitorial stormtroopers suck for any reason other than to deliver special weapons. They break easily (even easier than 5th edition guardsmen), they're generally overpriced (Sisters are one point more per model and they get power armor, bolters, and better rules) for what they do.
So prepare to lose far more often than not, unless your opponents just aren't that great, seeing how you're focusing on them.

The beautiful thing about the W/H codex is that stormies can be Arbites as well. Plus less confusion now that stormies are different in the IG codex - but shotguns are very short range. I also own 5 GK terminators with an incinerator. Good choice!

Yeah, my choices are limited. I have VERY little in the way of =][= right now.
To respond to Melissia, the reason I took the stormies wasn't because they're any good my reasoning was twofold:
1. They can have teleport homers 2. They're about my only troop choices at the moment...
Mostly number 2.
