I will try my Chaos Guard without voxes. It just doesn't suit Chaos to use voxes.

if it is just a fluff issue, then make somethingup to replace the vox model. psychic channelling or similar.
I love voxes, far too useful to leave at home. I have found the vox and chem inhalers does tend to mean my squads get assaulted, loose, don't break, and then I can't shoot em up next turn, so trying with out the Chem to stop that from happening.

fatuotous, take Iron discipline or chem inhalers. ID is ridicolously cheap and good. Chems are more fluffy, but cost too much and aren't really worth it unless you're taking a ST/grenaniders/auxilary heavy army (consciprts with chem inhalers+scary) Die hars is Okay but dosen't really fit the fluff and is the least effective of the three. Oh, and my anti tau tricks. Griffons behind area terrain (punches through armour, indirect fire) LR exterminators (more AP4 goodness) uk.games-workshop.com/imperialguard/ac-vehicles/1/Hellhounds Deepstriking flamer- demo charge teams kill both crisis suits and fire warriors. Kill the fire warrior first, then broadsides, then hammerheads, then crisis suits. Don't bother killing kroot, they're worthless LRBTs can mince entire crisis teams in one shot. Demolishers aren't really worth it. if the board is terrain heavy, rough riders work well. Lots of heavy bolters. Deepstriking heavy flamer sentinals are exceptionally good if used right. (Genaral advice here: always give officers powerweapons, they are so cheap its always a good investment.)

lets get this back to what to equip officers with. my contribution is: I called the GW roolzboyz and they politely informed me that officers ARE independent characters so may be singled out in melee - good to know, I'll stick with the powersword I guess

Yeah, that sucks. I am beginning to hate GW.

the 4th edition codex is just different than the 3rd edition one. there's some stuff that's worse (officers and less tanks) and some stuff that's better (hellhounds and doctrines, etc.). all told, I like the new IG partly cuz it plays to the vast diversity of the army fluffwise.

yes me to and also i'm like guard becuase you can safly lose a few before your battle plan starts to get affects unlike elitist armies though of this today equip a officer with a mastercrafted stormbolter and then give his retuine all assualt weapons

I dunno about doctrines, i only ever used one or two and then spent the rest of my army list working around that. But the Hellhound is much better. All I wish is that we could give our sergents powerweapons.

Its kinda crappy that every other army can give their sargents powerwepons and the ilk and we cannot, Even the orks (who have worse kit than us!) can do it.

yeah though I can understand from a fluff perspective. it's not like a guard army is anything special. there are so many countless billions of guardsmen that it basically makes us the army where a powerweapon literally IS that rare and awesome item. our infantry is the bottom of the barrel pretty much and our equipment reflects it

LoL, indeed. They are just a rag tag band of idiots who happen to find some weapons, its like what would happen if some mental patients escaped and found...paris hilton with a gun.

Dead paris hilton? I'm not sure if I follow... But I always give my officers powerweapons. If they survive and they wound, I'm damn well gonna make sure it gets through.
