Has anyone ever used mine fields or traps? If so then could you tell me if they work?

check out page 205 of the big rule book....they are fun and add flair to your game, nothing to base your entire game around, but fun none the less.

In real life, obstacles (which minefields and traps fall under) are used to funnel the enemy into a kill zone to increase your effiency in killing them. Dont count on them as a barrier as your enemy chould just go through them (especially if he has some sort of mineplow). But typically, you should try to use them to anchor positions and to try and make it more attractive to go where you want him to go so you can kill him easier.
As far as in game use, not sure as I have only played against them not with them. But the tactic above is a sound tactic and should work somewhat.
