yay! Space Puppies! I designed this list while I should have been payin attention in Algebra today:
H.Q: Njal Stormcaller 275
Troops: 9x Grey Huntes Power fist, Meltagun 170
Troops: 9x Blood Claws Power sword, Flamer 155
Troops: 9x Blood Claws Power sword, Flamer 155
Elites: 3 Wolf Guard - Thunderhammer & Bolt pistol - 2x Wolf claws - Storm shield & Frost blade 149
Elites: 5x Wolf Scouts Plasma pistol 90
Total: ~1000 (slightly under)
The Grey Hunters will have the thunder hammer wolf guard attached to them to add another couple S8 attacks. Their power fist and melta gun help them destroy tanks. They'll advance on the flank of the board, trying to get into position to sweep the enemy line (higher point values will have them in drop pods)
The two blood claw packs will be attached to the frost blade and wolf claw guards, and will aim for taking out enemy infantry via sheer amount of attacks.
Wolf scouts target leaders such as guard commanders, eldar psykers, and other smaller, weaker, back line H.Q choices. They'll stay away from carnifexes, but can still work on killing zoanthroaps if I AM fighting big stuff like 'nids.
And then there' Njal. I couldn't NOT take him, seeing as I own his model, and he is so epic. If I had more money, I'd make him a normal rune priest and put my wolves in drop pods. Maybe later.

Oh it's you! Welcome back to the forum, broseph. Anyway, the guard was just too expensive to maintain for me, and I wasn't winning with them. I couldn't figure out a tactic I liked. But so far, I like all the tactics and armies I've designed for wolves. They're fun to paint, and their plastic kit is amazing!

I don't see this cracking Reds's gunline, but it'll still be fun.

I've so far got a wolf guard and the 9 grey hunters, and Njal. Next is a blood claw pack.
As for drop pods - those are a must for higher points games. I'll be getting some for sure.

I, for one, was never too concerned about drop pods. Then Reds told me several of his ideas for dealing with them... I don't plan on buying any more of them.

Having played about 3 games as Space Marines I hate not having rhinos to drive around in. Against Tau I got shot up really bad. By turn 3 everyone was dead. If you're taking drop pods later, then that's fine, but I think the Wolves need manouevrability more than Ultramarines do.
