Pretty much anything, mine have taken on carnafex, rhinos, wraithlords, ork trucks, all kind of jet bikes, termies, sisters of battle (and pinned them , orks, gretchin artillery gunners (v effective way to take out artillery pieces), practically anything. Considering their point cost my hobbits ratherly fail to make back their points, and they take concentrated effort to kill, so draw fire from other units.

Totally agree, I normally field 5, although have been known to field 10. If you infiltrate them behind your oponents if possible, they are a really annoying thorn, at only 55 points, probably one of your cheapest units, nearly always make the points back and they will be a real pyschological annoyance to your opponent who will waste shots and possibly send a unit to get rid of them in CC.
The last game I play tested a tornament set up and fortunately I won 1st turn and due to a bad deployment by my CSM opponent of his Winged Demon Prince HQ, my 5 Ratlings took five shots, got 5 hits, 4 wounds and he failed all of his saves. Turn two they killed his obliterator, turn 3 they imobilized his Rhino, although he then managed to summon his lesser demons from a Plague Marine Squad and rolled a 6 for the assault move the Ratlings were in cover and needless to say they then died, as with WS2 you don't get to score many hits. But then they had got back 180 odd points, not bad for a 55 point investment, although attrocious deployment and armour save throws did indeed help.
Field a small unit of 3 (33 points) just to deny terrain and the annoynace factor!!
