With the release of the brilliant new baneblade/hellhammer kit, I think it's time we began to discuss how best to use these armoured behemoths.
How best to use an imperial superheavy tank? Any advice? comments?

Hide stuff behind it.
Hide it behind terrain.
Slowly move forward. NEVER give them LoS for more than few shots with their big guns.
Super-heavies are big tanks, so they're useful in the same two roles as the smaller Leman Russ is- Blitzkrieg attacks or mopping up after you throw your Guardsmen through the meat grinder.
Which tactic you use depends on your opponent. Against Orks (maybe not new Orks), 'nids, or anything without a lot of AV and a low BS, go ahead and roll forward, firing at everything in sight.
Play it closer to the vest against armies with either really good BS or lots of AV. This includes other Guard, SM, CSM, Necron, and the Inquisition.
Both Eldar present unique problems, being that they're squishy but really fast and can shoot rather effectively. You'll have to play reactively against them, most especially if they're in the hands of a good player.

Some good advice there, thanks.
I find the baneblade is quite effective at spear-heading assaults. Roll forward with you superheavy with a couple of transports full of Vets/ST perhaps with the odd LR behind and concentrate all your firepower on the part of the board your heading for. Not much can stand up to that kind of a bombardment, and if anything does, your disembarked infantry will mopp 'em up.

I think that they would be best used alongside a group of Russes. One it would give some cover to your baneblade in case it has to repair. They would also be able to knock out "lesser" targets and add that extra support to whatever you were trying to destroy. They also could provide a little buffer between what might be trying to shoot at your baneblade. (Do units still need a target priority to shoot at super- heavies?)

not sure but what me and my friend do is throw the banlabe forward shroud the side arour with his 2 LR's that may be full of termies or smurfs high on adrelilne and just on the inside of the 2 LR demols then just as you get at your target destination split off the LR's move up the demols lay in with all 3 demol cannons (2 LR demols + banblade) then lay the baneblades full fier into the destination then all the smurfs jump out and unleash hell into there ranks good tactic when they realise what they got chaging them is a baneblade spearheaded transport rush as well as 2 shooty termie squads droping on there butt's

Thing is with the bane blade, once it has lost its battle cannon, which will be the first thing your opponent choses to destroy, you only really have a pair of lass cannons.
you HAVE to move forward with the bane blade. if you don't, when your battle cannon gets taken out, you have nothing worth while left with in range.
I don't think it is worth while stopping shooting for a turn just to fix the battle cannon. so if you keep moving forward, hopefully you will get the bolter's in range of infantry, and they can more or less take out a good chunk of more or less any infantry squad. you will also get the demolisher cannon in range, and when that happens, you really will be destroying ANY foot troops and tanks will surely crumple in a shot or two.

even if you lose the battle cannon, you still have the Demolisher cannon in the Hull. Its still formidable. I've successfully used the Baneblade as a cork to plug gap in a line or as an anchor to a flank.
