Well me and my friends are planning to try a apocalypse game using the fallowing house rules
The battle is considered an Escalating Engagement
Were 2, 2000 point armies will deploy and then center of the field then after each 4 rounds we will continue to escalate the battle by sending in reserves, No super heavy tanks or titans. Table space 8 X 4 feet area.
And for some reason my group has asked me to be the team leader. And I have no idea what to do.
Well here is a rough outline of my forces and opponent 6000 pts Imperal guard consisting of (2000 pts point light infantry impearl guard 2000 pts drop impearl guard 2000 pts grenadiers army impearl guard)
4000 pts Dark Angles (half of witch I am lending my girl friend for this battle)
2000 elder (mostly comprised of jet bikes)
Making it a 12,000 point battle The other group has 3000 pts chaos dedicated to Korn
3000 pts impearl guard going to be counted (as tratiors for the game)
2 X 3000 pts orks
Well i was thinking of using the light infantry first and hold up in some heavy cover and go from there use the rest of my guards and dark Angles, and use the elder hit and run around the taple what do you think?

Ooo, that's a toughie. Personaly, I'd reccomend using the Dark Angels to hold up the center on their own. After all, the're going to have to face some pretty stern incoming fire on their own, and their armour saves are best up to the job. Eldar later on to round up bashed-in enemy units and finish them off, once the enemy armour is mostly out of the way. Guard to pound them into a mash of guts and pointy helmets with cannons, and infantry to adavnce in ranks one deep, five inches apart and shoot them to bits. Well, thats what I'd do... but I lost two out of my three games ...

Take a look at Turtleboys Apocalypse game - he used the IG meat shield tactic like a charm, ensuring the continued survival of his high impact guard and SMurf units. Just remember to get forward enough to challenge for enough objectives...
