I got an email about 4 hours ago from GWS and it said that they are going to release a supplement for 40k called Battle Missions which has 30+ new scenarios in it. It will be released in March along with new kits for Space Marines, Orks and more importantly Imperial Guard.
Personally, I reckon that we may get some plastic stormies and psykers but anything goes!!
Does anyone have any thoughts on what those kits are going to be??

I posted in the general section about this. The basilisk is clearly getting an overhaul as the image has the new chimera chassis in it. I'm hoping that means the Chimera itself along with Medusa, Colussus, etc are on their way.
I think we'll be lucky to see anything but vehicles and some special characters.

I am thrilled at the thought of a book of scenarios! I cant wait to crack into it and try a few out. If they are anything like the scenarios in the main rule book I know I will be pleased.
And a new Chimera chassis!!! I hope its similar (don't want to buy 13 more) but with that neat little addition they did for the Demolisher with the lined up tracks, and maybe some of the turret options included!

I too am hoping for the options, flamer and heavy bolter turrets would be good.
Really hoping we get the Manticore/Hydra box set too.

Yeah sounds good, I'm knew to the game but more selection of game type is always good.
I've been told by the manager of my local GWS that they are trying to phase out metal units all but special named characters, aparently this is due to the U.S. market for it, not allowed to sell lead figures (why you'd let your kid whos likely to put toys in their mouth buy a warhammer kit i don't know lol) and then aparently they didn't like the pewter versions. But hey better for everyone!

yeah plastics much better, cheaper, easier to use and easier to fix and also less likely to break as it has more give in it. plus it's lighter so if you play Apocalypse you don't need a team mate jsut to carry it in lol. But really hope they add some new units to the imperial guard, or at least some more bitz as it's hard to customise your army apart from their colours

I just need some plastic stormtroopers. So I don't have only one type of sergeant's head oh and more russ variants. psyker battle squad would be too much to hope for I suppose

Plastic stormies seems likely to me, that is, if GW is going to do any IG minis when Battle Missions comes. But what comes to mind when you think "battle missions?" It's just so hopelessly generic.

This isn't a rumor this is a direct release from GWS: This is a direct quote from the news email for those that haven't signed up. * Incoming! Battle Missions Coming in March, Battle Missions is a brand-new supplement for Warhammer 40,000 that expands on the basic missions found in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook. Each of the thirty-something scenarios detailed in Battle Missions has been designed to allow you to fight the sort of battles normally the subject of Black Library novels. From daring raids and assassinations, to breakthroughs and last stands, Battle Missions will allow your army to play in a way that reflects its background. No matter what Warhammer 40,000 army you collect this exciting new supplement will open up a whole new gaming experience.
Of course it just wouldn't be the same if there weren't some great new miniatures to fight through these missions with. Fortunately, there will be new sets for Space Marines, Orks and the Imperial Guard released alongside Battle Missions in March. I'd also like to add it's well worth signing up for the emails. They do not spam you and as you can see it gives you a good heads up for things to come! * I hope this isn't breaking any forum or games workshop rules (well if it is they don't like free advertising?)

I don't see Stormies as being "top of the list" here, since they do have Models, even if they are only Metal. The other Artillery and Russ, options, on the other hand, have no kits whatsoever, some of them (Colossus, Eradicator, DeathStrike) not even through Forge World.

I am interested in seeing what this supplement will ultimately look like, but I am not holding his breath.
I would however, love to get my hands on a Dathstrike plastic kit, or a medusa.
Anyhow, whatever I can get my hands on for the guard vehicles will be great for me and ours.

Sounds like they are just going to reprint the mission cards from second edition in a big book and claim its new. I will not be buying this. I mite borrow it from a friend that buys it. The new models are interesting. Plastic organs or rough riders would be wonderful.

What they are going to do is simply reproduce all the 4th/3rd ed missions and sell them on to you.
Tell you what. If I get a backup member or two, I'll recreate all the 4th Ed Missions for 5th Ed, and then post them up on the' forum.

The new sets for the Marines are no doubt going to be the Legion of the Dammed. I cant think of any other units. Plastic Tech-Priest maybe? I dunno. Guard on the other hand. We could still use some more tank kits. plastic Hydra/Manticore would be cool. Or even a plastic 3 in 1 kit, Basilisk, Medusa and Griffin. (Same chassis, same platform). Or one thing we have ALL waited for. Plastic Stormies!
