Well, there's a difference between things we want and things they think we want.

New Chimera will just be built to fit all the new chassis builds: Hellhound (and variants) along with the new Basilisk kit. Hopefully it will also have TL Heavy Bolters option for the turret.
What I am really looking forward to here is the new basilisk kit which, fingers crossed, will also include a griffon option as well as the medusa and colossus (the last 2 seem the most likely).

They just released a hellhound/devil dog/banewolf kit. What are they going to do with a new chimera kit besides raise the price?

I'll bet the chimera and bassie will be in the same box, with one other variant.
This means Chimeras will go up from £20 to £30. I'm buying my last one for current army before that happens, thank you very much. £30 is tantamount to raping my wallet!

Well what I'd really want is Elysian drop troops. As there's no picture in the codex I only have a few rough desciptions and the technicals (such as the mark of their helmets which isn't much use)
A few more bitz kits would be nice as well, preferably plastic!

So just last week I got done putting together one of the new hellhound kits and a basilisk kit. I put the basilisk together first as I was going to go a little crazy, do a little conversion, and make myself a medusa (which came out nicely in my opinion).
I was dreading the hellhound assembly.
When I opened it up I immediately thought my kit was missing pieces. I didn't see the mass of little circular spacers (the ones that go inbetween the side pieces). Once I looked at the instructions my fears were put to rest and I thought cool, we don't need them anymore.
So I started putting it together. I got to the treads and was instantly amazed at the improvements they made. They actually fit with no hassle whatsoever! Just do a little research on the net and if it's one thing guard players are known for it's complaining about how tank treads never fit, but low and behold the hellhound varriants fit like a glove now.
Theres several other sublte changes they did to the hellhound chassis (which as we know is shared by all light armored vehicles of the imperial guard). Comparing the new hellhound kit to the older basilisk kit and adding in some common sense I can tell you that beyond a shadow of a doubt you can expect at the very least a new basilisk/chimera kit.
Why?
Heres what I believe: -Since they are entirely composed of plastic it would be (in the terms of the graphic designers who program what the assembly line machines produce) simple for GW engineers to replace certain parts of the basilisk kit with similar parts included in the hellhound kit
-This in turn would reduce the amount of plastic needed to produce a full basilisk kit (the entire part of the kit that includes the circular pieces wouldn't be required anymore, the long piece that fits on the side of the basilisk would be part of the side pieces and smaller, etc.)
-This would make a new basilisk kit that is cheaper to produce than the current one, which in turn means they can add in a few more pieces if the purchaser wants to make a basilisk variant.
-That would give GW an excuse to raise the price of the basilisk/chimera kit (I wouldn't blame them of course, they are a company of course)
Those are just some reasons I could come up with off the top of my head at 4am in the morning. You get the idea of what I'm talking about I'm sure.
tldr: GW would be stupid not to have a new basilisk/chimera kit that shares the improvements of the hellhound kit. To justify raising the price on a kit that will be cheaper to produce than the one before they will most likely add a few pieces to customize the model into one of the variants shown in the codex. Otherwise you would be forced to use forgeworld or handmade versions to fit those choices, which I believe is something GW frowns upon since in a lot of their tournament styles they don't allow forgeworld models ('Ard Boys anyone?).

Right, I'm ordering another two chimeras to ensure I can make my mechanised recon force when I finish my air cav company.

Well, there's a difference between things we want and things they think we want. Whatever sells the best are the things they think we want. Hence all the Space Marine codexes.

I'd be nice for new plastic stormies. I'd totally start using them for scouts. As I am building an incredible dislike of scout models.

Personally, I like the scout models. Their stat-line makes me want to vomit and throw them out the window, but other than that, they're a lot better looking than the 60 SM's at port arms I have to paint.

I would deffo rather a joint box for the chimera and bassie. If you want a transporter then so be it, but then you have the option of using the bassie cannon to make your own stationary artillary piece.
Also, I cant wait to get my hands on some easy build tracks for the tanks!!

I don't need plastic stormies, thus, I will not buy them. I converted them instead, which was much cheaper and more fun.

We just got the new Basilisk kit at my hobby store, and all it builds is the Basilisk...no Medusa, no Griffon, nothing but the Basilisk.

Why did they even bother redoing it?

I could probably just say "It GW!" and that would suffice, but I won't. I guess it's mainly because they are redoing almost all of the models anyway, like they did for marines even though nothing really changed. And the Guardsmen...less models with no new equipment. The new tank kits, having done the demolisher kit, are easier to put together so that may also be part of it.

I didn't buy anything, I just saw the box. It might just be repackaged, but I doubt it. The packaging pics are of the variety all the new Guard box sets have as well as the back shows off the bits, which are based on the new style of tank chassis for the Guard.

BoLS is also saying a plastic killa kan and a plastic venerable dreadnought are on the way. As for the IG, if the listed minis are all that battle missions has, then there are no plastic stormies.

Right, so they made a few minor changes to increase the price of the Basilisk? No other options?
*whimper*
Personally I like the Scout models, except for their hideously grotesque heads. It's annoying that they're so damn expensive though.

When I first saw the new Basilisk box I was all excited, thinking I could finally have a freaking Colossus or Medusa...but no...just a Basilisk and I already have three of those.

So it sounds like the "new" basilisk kit is just a case of them adding in the alterations made to the Chimera chassis that we saw with the Hellhound. Now, while I can understand them repackageing and changing the model to make it fit in nicely with the new hellhound, what I don't understand is all the fuss that has been put out by GW.
Do we have any further info on what (if anything) else is coming for the Guard being as the Basilisk was such a damp squib?
