HAHAHAHA That doesn't exist. Please, let it not existReds It does. Lysander leading a unit of 10 terminators with cyclone myssile launchers. My signature apocalypse unit. Ah, I see. I did the math, and I could have a combined squad of 50 Guardsman, a Commissar, and a 9 lascannons for that, with 30pts to spare. Thing is, I'd rather have that then Lysander's unit. *Shakes head* I'm guess I'm just not cut out to be a Marine player. Reds

It's a matter of taste. I would never use that in a normal game.(Gotta get me them Dreads and Sternguard) I typically used bulk tactical squads(everything in squad is free!) and a few named squads I.E. Squad Beta with combi-Plasma, plasmagun & cannon or squad Omega thunderhammer, Plasma pistol, meltagun, Lascannon.

Tactical squads get the job done in my Space Marine lists.
a couple of combat squads with powerfists and meltaguns is pretty much all you need.
you could get a couple for the price of some of these heavy hitter units.
(Ok...it'll still cost you 400 points...)

I never use units of 5. I always make sure my units have both a heavy and special weapon. I do tend to use a scout unit per every two tactical squad (sometimes the other way around.)

No squads of five?
I like being able to plant half my tac squad someplace nice with their heavy weapon while the other half takes the rhino up to the thick of things.

Sometimes I use combat squads but I never buy units of less than ten. Tho' Myssile launchers make great support weapons. BOOM! ::Edit:: Ah shoot. I said use not buy.

I think MGK should use speeders and bikes.

Oh! Yeah... The Dark Angels are famed for their infamous Second company "Raven wing" which are elite bikers.

Yeah, I know. But I don't want to many bikes then they would be just Dark Angels in different armour. So I go for ordinay SM codex. But there will be a bike squad.

So, I have updated the list a bit, but I somehow got the feeling that I am leaving the fluff. It seems like there are more melta than plasma now.
It is probably more gaming correct but I am not truly happy about it. I think I will need to go back and ammend it.
Any input?

If you're getting the siege dread then maybe put it in a drop pod. Melta is good...

MGK Why wouldn't melta be a part of the fluff? An Army would want to utilize devices that are known safe to their troops. With the Plasma being prone to "Gets hot" most people requesting and using special weapons would go with the one they can shoot multiple over and over without risk to the user.
While the fluff might mention the use of plasma guns it doesn't mean that they are restricted from use of others unless their fluff states that they wouldn't utilize it at all. Which doesn't make military sense, but then again military intelligence is a contradiction in terms.

ssgtdude: I should have beer mor precise it seems. What I meant was that now, there is more meltas and multimelta in the force, then there are plasma. This isn't how I envisioned it. I want plasma to be the dominant special weapon not meltas. So I have to go back and fix that. The melta still has a place in the force but just not so dominant.

Hey, do you need any more plasma guns or pistols? Sure thing, do you need Viking rulebook, Norden and Västerled?

Neogame's Viking, the RPG? Hell yes. I've been bugging the lazy bastards at the club to give it to me for years now, since I originally based my own RPG on it there's some minor rules I want to have better access to.
But that's really not worth 2-3 plasma guns and 7-8 pistols... Anything else you might need by any chance?

No , you are damned right it is not worth it. I will settle for your soul and the fact that you and RT swear eternal obedience to me.
Orrr..... perhaps you've got some RPG that I want.

I can use my influence to have RT destroy things for you!
Sadly, I don't. I'd give you a copy of my own if I had actually written the rules down on paper. But apparently Viking and Neoviking are available as free PDF's nowadays, so I'll just send you some plasma as a christmas gift.

Sounds good to me. I'll send you some fabric posters of the Marx, Lenin and Stalin if I can find them.
