Please post your prefferd assault weapon for use in troop choices. Also, could you post if you have any particular reasons for this choice or if you have any other advice on assault weapons Thanks Badger

The flamer is well respected by me. As I used to play nids, these caused a lot of problems.
Now that I mainly play against space wolves, I find that the more I can hit in on turn, with one weapon, the better.
i would prefer to have...say....5 hits and kill 1-2, then to shot 1 and miss.

Flamer, because you get those extra wounds before an assault, which may help you survive it.

I prefer the gernade laucher because it's a good all rounder weapon with a quite good range and assault!!! You can hit several ennemies or tough creatures or light vehicules. I like it!! I also like very much melta guns that I give to my command squad because of fluff (given to br

ave soldiers) and to get more of meltas!!! plasma gun is interesting but too dangerous, I leave it to my veterans because they both do not benefit from the sharpshooters skill... Flamer is good when you have motorised infantry to BBQ foes when and where you want!! To end, I like all the special weapons, I wish I could get more, always more!!! I want a doctrine allowing 2 special weapons in infantry squads (like in battle sisters squads)!!!

I like the Nader since it is well rounded but in urban fights I stick to the melta and flamer every time. I never use plasma at all because I am the undisputed master of rolling 1s.

The grenade launcher is such a ridiculously excelent weapon. Its like a weaker assault missile launcher.
Plus when you fire it you can go "*thunk!* *BOOM*"! ;D

The grenade launcher is my choice. It's assault, so you can still get in some hits while moving into position. Sure, it won't help you survive an assault like a flamer will, but, then, do you really expect guardsmen to survive assaults in the first place? A guardsman's place is to shoot things, even if he does only have a lasgun.

I picked meltas, because I love to run Grenadiers. 2x Meltas in a stormtrooper squad isn't something that most opponents can afford to ignore for long. For conventional infantry I like to go with grenade launchers, and plasma for Veterans. Save the flamers for the Sentinels

all special weapons are equally valuable. take em all. if you're wondering what to take, look at what you've got, if you dont have a type of special weapon represented, take it. every special weapon excells at something and you need flexibility (though leaning toward anti 3+ hardware is never bad because so many opponents have power armor these days :s )

I dont see why so many people voted grenade launcher; I mean sure they've got good versatility, but vs 3+ armor (which is the majority of opponents) they're pretty weak. s6 is nice on the krak round but ap4 just doesnt cut it. if you want to stop marines from reaching your lines you need plasma, and that alone wont be enough to keep em back but at least it's definately a help. having turns where nothing dies on the enemy side is depressing, and plasma works to counter that outcome; grenade launchers (while they should definately be included in anyone's list for vs nids and stuff) just dont tend to get the job done for me vs 3+ armor and it seems like rhinos either die on turn 1 or it doesnt matter if you kill them

Yuh, but grenade launchers come with IG infantry instead of having to fork out an extra £6 for them. Plus, you get twice as many shots as meltas, no overheat and an excellet range.

I have to fall into a fad... Grenade Launchers. They are pretty accurate, almost like a smaller toned down missile launcher. They are fun.

Grenade launchers are the most common in my army.. they're just versatile lil bastards. I always take some plasma/melta though too.

I personally prefer melta's, as I once got about 12 from a bet with a space marine player. At the moment, there are only 7 of them in my 1500 point army.

Still, nade launchers kick arse! So cheap and deadly.

Hi everybody, I think all special weapons have their merits but my personal favourite is the plasma gun. Theres just this little place in my heart were it will sit (I just hope it doesnt explode, i dont think i'd get much of a save in there! ) But the high strength and low AP are great, and rapid fire is good when the enemy are getting just that little too close to your lines.

Yeah, plasma is cool, a little self destructive sometimes, but good.
