And by the way mabus, flamers do ignore cover saves. Thats what makes heavy flamers the height of cityfight cool....

Huh? *checks previous posts*. Sorry old chap, my mistake. The only problem with the jungle fighters docis that it is not applicable to cityfight....

Depends on the points, if you're running short a metagun will serve you best, gives enemy armour a strength eight reason to stay away from you and reduces the need for you to take lascannons and other lumering heavy weapons. Otherwise, depends entirely on the terrain. Plasma guns, for me, are to be avoided as troops melting themselves with a simple roll of a 1 does not facilitate any part of my tactical doctrine.

then your tactial doctrine must be exceptionally boring....... (joking)

Quite alright old boy, it's easily done. You can't deny the fact that Plasma guns are great fun against SM.

Yeah, the thought of entire Sm squads being rapidfired to death is just too cool to miss out on.

i like to use the meltagun becuase SM's are so bloody popular and i need a way to get past those 3+ saves and i don't have any chance of my troops being roasted by their own weapons.

Nahh, for me plasma guns are do or die. You can't pass an oppurtunity to fry at least 2 SM a turn from a single plasma gun, if youre whole platoon had plasma guns, think of the possibilites! You would only lose 16 points worth of man and equipment against double of theirs. although many people say that rolling 1's is common than originally thought, you still have that 5/6 of a chance to pull them off. Melta guns do have that benefit of not being overheated....but that does sacrifice distance

Plasma gun, all of my friends play MEQs. The self-hit on a one doesn't seem that bad when your other army is skaven...in a skaven army, guns that only overheat on a 1 have a special rule called "reliable".

Yuh, but grenade launchers come with IG infantry instead of having to fork out an extra £6 for them. Plus, you get twice as many shots as meltas, no overheat and an excellet range. I I didnt bother reading through the rest but meltas dont overheat. My vote goes to meltas or GL's. I luvem both. (If you want meltas well buy a spacemarine combat squad or command squad. Lot O meltas)

I have to say for squads tailor to the enemy, but in general GL's and Plas. Versitility is BIG in my weapons choices. I only use meltas in units that have a good chance of being close to the enemy like those that infiltrate, deep strike, or have dedicated transport(I really like armored fists).

Flamer, because you get those extra wounds before an assault, which may help you survive it. I avoid assault at all costs. 3WS isn't going to be winning anything. Whats worse is that my last Assault was with my Rattlings. poor midgets.

just make sure that when you assault someone you can swamp them with at least three squads. even the harliquins will fall before your weight of numbers

I like to use the flamer because its sooo good against nids ;) And i like them also coz they cover a large area and are good against swarms and horde troops. And i just like to see the opponent burning down to dust...Burn alien bug burn! 8-)

I maxed out flamers in my command squad. Using four flamers to soften up the enemy and then assault with Heroic Officer, Psyker w/ Hon. Imp. and Force Weapon. and Commissar w/ Power Fist. Does a number on most squads. That with Close order drill. Kinda nasty.

i love meltas and plasma, because there's loads of noobs with SM armies out there, they're so bloody popular (due to GW calling them the perfect starter army). if a face a horde army (greenskins and nids) they just get completely vaporized!!!!

Plasma guns has become my favorite. Overheat on a 1 (or 1 and 2 if rapid firing) isnt really that dangerous. Guardsmen are meant to die anyway. Plasmas increase the chance of taking something with them. I always give my storm troopers plasmas as they have a good chance of surviving an overheat.
