I got the codex a few days ago and have been tinkering around trying to find a combination of units that will fufill my desire to look cool while hopefully being somewhat effective on the table.
Wolf Guard Battle Leader wolf tooth necklace x2 wolf claw meltabomb saga of the hunter=135
Wolf Guard Battle Leader wolf tooth necklace frost blade=105
5 Wolf Guard+Terminator Armor frost blade + stormbolter chainfist + stormbolter chainfist + assault cannon x2 pairs of wolf claws=265
Dreadnought with multimelta=105
7 Grey Hunters powerfist meltagun=135
7 Grey Hunters powersword flamer=120
5 Long Fangs x2 missile launchers x2 plasma cannons=135
total 1000

I don't know how effective that dred MM will be while struggling to get across the table. Otherwise, cool. Good conversion opportunity.

yeah...walking bullet magnet... but the AT seems nice...and those dreads are cheap as chips to get my hands on.
At least he'll have the terminators to keep him company.
Wait a minute...does saga of the hunter get conferred to the squad the IC has joined? (suddenly I get the feeling that maybe it does not...)

Running in the shooting phase!
That dread is less of a problem when everything is stuck on your side. If you played with spearhead deployment, this would be a great list. Just don't fight a horde with it...

I reckon switch the two plasma cannons to missile launchers, take away the land speeder and get yourself 3 x rhino. Just for the mobility. And you get to drink drive and ram things at high speed.

I'm thinking twin-linked autocannon on the dread... porbably drop saga of the beastslayer for the points
that'll give him extra range and turn my dread into a more utility unit...
plus it would be reminiscent of the Leman Russ Exterminator... so my mind is basically made up.

Ragnar is such a horribly ugly model that you can exchange him with good consciousness.
Edit: Conscience... I suspect keeping him won't make you collapse.

Well, thank you. When I actively try to amuse people I end up as the only one laughing, so I try to just let things flow.

Yeah he is pretty ugly...
funny you should mention it because I was thinking of making a 1000 point for starters and I'd be happy to leave him out of it.
Wolf Guard Battle Leader wolf tooth necklace x2 wolf claw meltabomb=125
Wolf Guard Battle Leader wolf tooth necklace powerfist=105
5 Wolf Guard+Terminator Armor frost blade + stormbolter chainfist + stormbolter chainfist + assault cannon x2 pairs of wolf claws=265
Dreadnought with twin-linked autocannon 115
7 Grey Hunters powerfist meltagun=135
7 Grey Hunters powersword flamer=120
5 Long Fangs x2 missile launchers x2 plasma cannons=135
still footsloggers though...

Can you make the missile launchers fire axes?
(On the models I mean. It's stupid, but kind of awesome, and perfectly suitable for Space Wolves)

That's dangerously close to firing chainsaws. And we all know who uses that technology...

Don't the Imperium have someone you can call for these occasions? Asking if a certain thing is heresy or not, I mean.

You don't need to bother them. Just ask me!

Are axe launchers heresy, oh venerably Pantsminister? Enlighten us, and please do not smite our pants with righteous fire.

Axe launchers are not heresy. But you may end up with a patent infringement suit, if they're chainaxes.
Edit: I would never smite your pants, Makarova. I like being alive.
And I can't smite ymmot's pants, when they don't exist.

Req: I would never hurt you, but I'm guessing my male won't take too kindly to you removing my pants.
Ymmot: Did you hear that? Axe launchers! I can send you a few axes.

Exactly. It's RT I fear.
(Gonna leave it like that, too, just to let it be known that my fear quotient isn't all that high.)
Oh, really?

Save your axes Makarova! Thank you kindly and everything but that isn't exactly the stylistic interpretation I plan on going with this particular project.
My Space Wolves will have the viking aspects downplayed a bit, while still being an important part of their essence I like to think of my wolves as being more about teeth than fur.
So...hard as nails savage feral veterans, all wearing helmets.(beakie style for the battle leaders!) patient and methodical in their brutality.
We'll save axe throwing for the feasting and drinking competitions after the battle!
but the little big mek inside me is intrigued by the idea... wots killier then a choppa with more dakka?

Wait a minute...does saga of the hunter get conferred to the squad the IC has joined? (suddenly I get the feeling that maybe it does not...) No. It's just for an IC with no squad, only in power armour (not termie or biker`). I hope you were drunk when you wrote those lists, Req. Or Mr. Russ will not be happy. No axe launchers?
