So with the rules under forth edition eldar codex the warp spiders must take the surprise assault exark power in order to deep strike. How ever now that the 5th ed codex is out it states that under the jump infantry rule that they may deep strike. The warp spiders are jump infantry so they may deep strike any way, plus the fact that all of the standard missions in the book allow deep strike. Is the surprise assault power pointless now?

Pretty much.
At the time of the Eldar books release, most of 5th Ed. likely didn't exist, so they had to include a way for them to Deep Strike, which meant Surprise Assault. With the advent of the new edition, it's pretty much useless.

You could be an uber ____, and tell your opponent that the codex supersedes the core rules, and they need to take it. That's a few points of emo you won't have to worry about.

Urm, I'm not sure that a jump generator or what ever grants deep strike, I think it gives movement as jump inf,but not the DS. Would need to double check the dex and rules tho........ Usually codex over rules core rules.

Usually codex over rules core rules. Well, the codex says nothing about it, and remember, according to the Core Rules, Jump and Jet Infantry are able to Deep Strike in a mission.

That is being a powergamer, and punishable by being horribly tortured. I would probably have the same reaction. I was just putting it out there as an option, to be fair.

All jump infantry can Deep Strike if mission allows...
maybe the special rule is for situations when deep strike is not allowed?
