Hi fellow Guardsmans! Long time no posting here. I couldn't find my previous thread, so I created new one. I didn't paint anything for few months, I'm going back to paint now. Here's what I came with: It's the new camo pattern I'm going to use. This mini is not 100% complete, so expect some update soon. Maybe I'll finish few more... Anyway, C&C welcome. Cheers, BCI Batou.

Batou! You've been gone for a while I love the guardsman! Might steal a few ideas from the improvised armour, as long as you don't mind Some fancy sculpting there.

Self-defense force? What are they? Monks? That hood makes it seem likely. Goodness, he looks like a glade guard.
Pretty good. You should be proud of this one and any other similar models you have. He looks like he's from an irregular unit or some kind of skirmishing force. That or a gang.

Nice! ;D
I'm liking the Necron bionic arm and the shotgun, I had an idea to try that once never thought of incorporating part of the gun into a shot gun like that!

Thanks for the comments guys! Self Defence Force... They're not monks. They are Vetaran army (mostly vets), that fight for survival on their own planet (against any enemy, Imperium too, but their not chaotic any way - I'm still working on fluff for them). The hoods and face covers were inspired by S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game, I really like it. Be a little patient, I'll try to do some touch-ups for him and maybe finish another one or two minis today. @ Scarper: Yeah, long time no see. You may steall any idea you want, I glad, that someone is inspired by my work. Cheers, BCI Batou. EDIT: I finished him today, but don't have any pictures. I'll post them tomorrow. And here are some WIP pics of guardsmans I'm working on (not 2 as I wrote before, but 4 of them):

Ok, some pics as I said before. Unfortunatelly I didn't finished those last 4, hope to do it 'till end of the weekend. This is my first new vet from JSDF, assault squad. Photos with 3 different bases: It looks really bad on those pics, but is a lot better IRL. Cheers, BCI Batou

Double posting... ;/ Another one finished. I found, that it is easier for me to paint one at a time, so they'll come very slowly... Here's the sniper vet from support squad 1 (also with 3 different bases): And with the previous one: I forgot his helmet, will fix it next time. C&C welcome. Cheers, BCI Batou.

That middle base is exceptional - what kind of static grass did you use? And did you make the rocky outcrop yourself, or is it store bought?

Hi folks! Haven't posted here for so long, that most of you probably don't know me, rest doesn't remember me. ;p Anyway I'm back and I hope this time it's for good! For the past four years I ahvn't had many occasions to play so my motivation have been really low. That doesn't mean I didn't do anything! I have two veterans squad converted, primed and ready for painting. I have done many side projects (none of those are finished), paint test etc. I'll try to post some pictures soon. For now I'll probably have game today and I have prepared a list for it, I'm curious about your opinions, so here it is: COMPANY COMMAND SQUAD (Commander with B.Pistol & P.Fist, 4 Veterans with medi-pack, vox-caster and 2 meltaguns, krak grenades & carapace armour) 147pts Chimera APC (Pintle mounted S.Bolter, H-K Missile, Dozer Blade, Extra Armour, turret Multilaser, hull H.Flamer) 100 pts VETERAN SQUAD 1&2 (vox-caster, autocannon, 3x sniper rifle) 200 pts Scout Sentinel with autocannon, search light and camo net, 46 pts 493 pts total What you guys think? EDIT: Some pics as promised: Unfinished 500 pts army (without Chimera) Vet squad 1 Vet squad 2 More pics and close-ups when they'll be finished (it may take some time, as I'm working on something different now...).

Drop the toys. You have to much pointless (no pun intended) stuff clogging up your units that could be better spent elsewhere. For example, you've almost doubled the price of the chimera. Dropping the pointless upgrades and you could afford a second one. Much better than a bunch of crap that won't be used and when it does, miss half the time. The CCS pays as much for carapce as a veteran squad but for half as many men. Waste of point (especially when combined with a medic). The krak grenades, PF and BP is also a waste of points. The CCS won't survive in Close combat anyways, so why pay for the upgrades? If you want them to go tank hunting, give them more meltas and a melta bomb. The voxcasters are also useless, use the points to buy more meltas. The sentinel should be bareboned, it's supposed to be mobile so the camo net is pointless. The searchlight is also a total waste. I prefer Multilasers on my Scout Sentinels, but that's a matter of personal taste. More shots means more hits. They will still wound give saves and wound marines on 4+. Sniper rifles aren't really that good. Give them GL, plasma or melta.
You have 25 wounds and two very weak vehicles in this list. I can easily get twice as many soldiers for the same amount of points and that includes spending a tenth of the points on a special character.

Pretty cool, I like the bases, hoods and equipment. Have you thought about decal transfers your shoulderpad designations ?

Firstly, welcome back as others have said! It's good to see another IG player jumping back into the fray Firstly, I'd like to say, those are some gorramn cool looking models. I almost mangasm'd over the necron-bionic-arm shotgun guy. The others have made some good points in terms of lists, but I will gladly vouch for powerfists in a CCS. No-one would seriously argue the IG overall make a great close-combat army (aside from 1-2 very particular, 1500pt+ builds), but I find a CCS and PCS can make great counter-attacking units to finish off mauled squads in close range. If you plan on spending all day in your Chimera giving orders (as solid a plan as any), you probably don't need the fist, but hell, it's your commander. It's good to wound things on something other than 5+ once in a while. Other than that, the army list itself looks solid, aside from those snipers. I'm not going to say snipers are crap, but I will state that they're a niche weapon. So if you want to make the best of them (and seriously, they're veteran snipers, that's friggin' badass), you'd be best using things that can capitalise on what they do well: wounding Monstrous Creatures and causing Pinning tests. The MCs you've got with your CCS's orders, but the Pinning Tests need a little help. With all the points you could shave off the aforementioned 'toys' like the extra shiny stuff in the CCS, or all the upgrades on the Chimera, you could easily field another Chimera, and probably find points for a smallish sized squad of psykers to carry, that will drop the enemy's morale when those snipers hit them. Just some food for thought, is all.

Hello again! Unfortunatelly I didn't play the game I wrote about last time, instead I played a game yesterday through Vassal with my friend. I did some changes to my army list and I think I'll stick with it as it is now. I lost the game actually, but it was due to my unlucky rolls (two 3 for sentinel to shoot at chimera rear armour then two 2 for charging at it on 3"!). Anyway, here's the list:
HQ: Company command squad: commander with boltgun, 4 vets with medi-pack, vox-caster and two grenade launchers Chimera TROOPS 1: Veteran Squad: Sergeant, 9 vets with autocannon, two sniper rifles and vox Chimera TROOPS 2: Veteran Squad: Sergeant, 9 vets with autocannon, two sniper rifles and vox Chimera Fast attack: Scout Sentinel with autocannon
I'll change these voxes for something different, but medi-pack is must for me. It save my command many, many times in this game.
Anyway, thanks to that game, I'm sure what to do for my command squad finally, so expect some pictures soon.
And thank you all for your replays. Cheers, BCI Batou.

You don't really need the medic since the command squad stays in the chimera. Drop it and the voxes and you can fill ALL your squads with special weapons.

A small update. First is another guardsman from Veteran Support Squad 2. It's not fully finished, still some touch ups, cleanings and markings to do. Anyway, I used washes/ drybrushes to paint him. It's not as good as I wanted, but good enough for tabletop standard and really quick, so I'll paint rest of my army this way. Veteran Support Squad 1 is on painting station now, so I hope they'll be finished soon. Next is my WIP Command Squad. They need some GS work and after that they'll be primed. Support Squad 2 is already primed and will be painted next. Anyway, pics: C&C welcomed. Cheers, BCI Batou

Those are looking great! Really nice stuff and the colours work well for an urban/forest force. The hood on the bandana sniper looks particularly nice!
How did you do the big front part on the lasguns?
Keep up the good work.

Thanks, Paxole. I'm glad you like them. How did you do the big front part on the lasguns? It's just some plastic rod/ plasticard.
