One of the taints of Sheol was the information brought by the rogue trader that fateful day contained pre heresy gene splicing information. It was not uncommon to splice humans with animals and native creatures to make them better fitr for life on certain planets. Ogryns and ratlings still exist today but the other abhuman races were erased. Sheols frequent solar radiation bursts caused havoc ont he human population, so the adepts were eager to try the splicing experiments to make the workers hardier. After a few generations a portion of the population looked like something from Dante's inferno. Those not possessing tumors and growths from radiation sickness were sprouting animal characteristics. The Blood God smiled as did the Lord of Change upon these twisted creatures.
