Heya, So do you use Grenadiers? How do they perform? Do they work well hand in hand with Guard squads? Or are they just plain useless?

Whenever i have used grenadiers i use two squads, 1 with 2 plasmaguns and 1 with 2 meltaguns. Both squads are mounted in chimeras and they rock if you know how to use them. I usually just take them as storm troopers but i had to ditch a platoon command squad for points purposes and just said that they were grenadiers to make my army legal. I would still recommend a platoon of guardsmen though. I take a platoon of 45 men in addition to the grenadiers just so i have some bodies on the table.

if you are considering taking carapace armor you can instead just take grenadiers and have BS4, 2 special weapons per squad, frag and krak grenades, and carapace armor for your offensive units leaving the rest of your army in support fortified in defensive positions that utilize cover. this is a bit more streamlined and is more potent on a point per point basis in my opinion.

I used to have grenadiers, but since they don't benefit from Die-Hards (and I needed the doctorine point for my RR) I have started to use ordinary Armoured Fistsquads. They preform almost as good as grenadiers, but they are in bigger need of support. And that comes in the form of Storm Troopers with a Chimera.

Die-Hards are one of the absolutly best doctrines. Read about the "T-formation" in the tactics section. "Tyranid menice"

chem-inhalers is pretty much die-hards and iron discipline in one doctrine for a bit more points - kinda sexy if you ask me.
as far as grenadiers go, taking 'restricted troops: storm troopers' is probably the best choice for introducing that type of trooper to your army. I say this because storm troopers taken as elites have more options (deepstrike/infiltrate). one should only take the grenadiers doctrine if you want to replace your regular guard infantry platoons with grenadiers.

that makes for a great offensive guard force *envy* my guard army is a light infantry 'line company' which makes it kinda unfluffy for me to go that route, but 3 chimera borne squads of grenadiers is hawt if you gotta take an objective!

I've been using grenadiers quite a bit, but am now phasing them out for regular stormtroopers so that I can trim down the doctrines I spend on carapace armored guardsmen. I've got a bunch of 'guard infantry' so I use alot of that to hold my deployment zone with, then just make surgical strikes with the kasrkins (storm troops)

Restricted Troops: Stormtroopers + Alternate Organization: Grenadiers + Special Equipment: Chem Inhalers: 3 Doctrine Points 6 boxes sets + 4 Blisterpacks of Kasrkin: $380 dollars. The look in that Ork player's eyes when he realizes you've got 65 guys who can penitrate his armour? Priceless.
There's some things money can buy. For everything else, there's Grenadiers.
