I can see this carrying a Chimera based vehicle. Outflanking flying hell hounds any one.
Though I think the idea is
fantastic, I doubt they'll actually allow it to carry a Chimera. Imagine, if you will:
Monty Python and the Heavy Transport ValkyrieCommander: “WOAH, THERE!”
Guardsman: “WHO GOES THERE?”
Commander: “It is I, Arthur, son of General Pendragon, from the Crusade of Gathalamor. King of the Bakkans…defeater of the Grax Orks…Soverign of all Macharia!”
Guardsman: “…WHO’S THE OTHER ONE?”
Commander: “I AM, And this is my trusty Servitor, Patsy! We have driven the lengths and breaths of this world in search of Troops who will join me in my Crusade at Gathalamor! I must speak with your Imperial Commander!”
Guardsman: “What? Driven on a Trojan?”
Commander: “Yes!”
Guardsman: “You’re using Chimeras!”
Commander: “What?”
Guardsman: “You’ve got two Infantry Squads in Chimeras and you’re driving them together!”
Commander: “So? We have driven since the snows of winter covered this world. Through the kingdom of Macharia, through-“
Guardsman: “Where’d you get the Chimeras?”
Commander: “We found them.”
Guardsman: “FOUND ‘EM? on Macharia? The Chimera’s IMPERIAL!”
Commander: “What do you mean?”
Guardsman: “Well, this is a TRAITORIS Zone!”
Commander: “The Valkyrie may fly south with the sun, or the Aquila or the Marauder may seek warmer climes in winter, yet these are not strangers to our landings!”
Guardsman: “Are you suggesting Chimeras MIGRATE?”
Commander: “Not at all! They could be carried!”
Guardsman: “WHAT? A VALKYRIE CARRYING A CHIMERA?”
Commander: “It could grip it by the treads!”
Guardsman: “It’s not a question of where it GRIPS it – it’s a simple question of weight ratios! A five-ton Valkyrie could not carry a twenty-ton Chimera!”
Commander: “Well, it doesn’t matter! Will you go and tell your Commander that Arthur from the Crusade of Gathalamor is here?”
Guardsman: “…Listen – in order to maintain airspeed velocity, a Valkyrie has to spin its turbines forty-three times every second, right?”
Commander: “PLEASE!”
Guardsman: “Am I right?”
Commander: “I’M NOT INTERESTED!”
2nd Guardsman: “It could be carried by a TRANSPORT Valkyrie…”
Guardsman: “Oh, yeah, a TRANSPORT Valkyrie, maybe, but not a STANDARD Valkyrie, that’s my point.”
2nd Guardsman: “Oh, yeah, I agree with that.”
Commander: “Will you ASK your Commander if he wants to JOIN my Crusade at Gathalamor?”
Guardsman: “…But then, of course…ah…TRANSPORT Valkyries are Forge World-only.”
2nd Guardsman: “Oh, yeah.”
(***Commander turns and leaves in disgust***)
Guardsman: “So they couldn’t bring a Chimera back anyway.”
2nd Guardsman: “WAIT A MINUTE…supposing TWO Valkyries carried it together?”
Guardsman: “No…they’d have to have it on a line!”
2nd Guardsman: “NO! Simple! They’d just use a length of steel cable!”
Guardsman: “WHAT? Held under the dorsal maneuvering vanes?”
2nd Guardsman: “Well, why not?”
