I need a little kick out of my IG army and was wondering if i should field an orgyn unit to support my infantry platoons (50guys altogether)...who usually move up the field once in a while to get in range as well as some action...plus they make relativley gud cc advantages with 3W each and Str.6 attacks...but they are a bit pricey, well wudda ya think?

Try it out, if it doesnt fit ur style, then try something else, thats ur best bet, but if u ask me, orgyns and cc dont fit into the guard alot

i'm a fan of the ogryn's there advantage is they can go toe toe in cc with most stuff and they make awsome fire magnets with there wounds and the fact they intimadate other players so you shove them out on a flank looking threatening when they try to kill the ogryn you tank rush there other flank.

Ogryns are great, but you have to avoid any instant kill weapons.
I used some recently for the first time in ages. 5 ogryns managed to kill 10 space wolves in three rounds of CC and only recieved 2 wounds. (they won me a table quarter)

Do try them, I think they are a good addition to a guard army for CC. high strength, multiples wounds seems good to me!!

ogryns give the guard that much needed broadsword attack instead of the pussy stormtrooper rapier attack they are like a sledgehammer instead of a big wooden stick of the Veterans
basically they kick arse ads

Ogryns are good. Are they worth there points in lower point games? In larger point games of 2000 + yes I they are definatly worth especially if they are in transports supported by a leman russ or 2 they make great flanking units. Another thing you could do with them is hold them back if you are defensive army and when you get assaulted charge them in for a counter attack. The toughness, strength and wounds for the points is definatly great. Are they better then vetrans with 3 plasma guns or Stormtroopers with 2 plasma guns.? Its up to you, they give a great opportunity for moding some cool units for your amry and they make great center peices.

yeh, good moddelling advantages, good stats, except high points but if you want something different in your ig army get some ogryns, the onl thing drawing me back is that they are $28 bucks austrralian for 1!

For the ripper guns you dont need to buy the actual ripper gun I find that you can use the orc shoota and it works out great you can even use the orc hand and attach it to the fantasy ogre model as the dont have hands.

I've bought 1 blister pack, and they're deffo too expensive, so will be going the fantasy ogre route too. Am looking to convert ripper guns out of nade launchers tho which fingers crossed will work. Hadn't thought about using orky weapons tho, that is a good idea, even if just for some bulky weapon bits to add to the conversions.

yeah...i think i would need to convert them pretty good...cos otherwise...those ogryns are gna looked displaced...with like bulging muscles....pants...and a ripper gun...as if they were fresh from the barracks...no wait not even the barracks...just recruited...They're supposed to look hardcore and stuff

I have not tried using ogryns in a long time.Every time i used them they were magnets but survived long enough to let my other units do what they needed to so i gues they were worth it.The few rare times i got to assault with them they did great.I have the old ones still and haven't ever wanted to change/ replace them since i rarely use them.

ogryns work best as counter assualt troops, best used to hang just back from your main bondy of troops.
