my jacket is getting better, a quick trip to a joannes craft store got me some material to start work on my cuffs, and allowed me to make some epaulettes. the below is a WIP shot, just before i added the final wrapping wound around the back to cover the frayed ends of the cord. for those inclined, i can post a step by step tutorial in how i made them, cost me about 15 bucks in materials to make both of them, and had a fair amount of left overs for everything but the fringe. nice and solid too got a hard plastic base. i'm holding the gold cord trim that is wrapped around the cuff in place with my hand, i haven't attached it yet, working out how to stitch it evenly, might have to get some of the cord with the thin 'flap' that works great for these kind of things. with the help of a friend we worked out how to tie the variant slipknots that formed the gold braid of the cap, and made a cord out of the gold braiding i was using for the rest of the costume, a nice dark metallic color, rather than a bright, flat yellow.

Your costume looks even better, the cap is brilliant(love the inperial aquila) and the gold trim on the cuffs and the shoulder parts(don't know thier name )are just brilliant. Great stuff, now go execute some Derek Acorah for being an un-sanctioned psyker!

Great start on the lasgun, the barrel bit could be a bit bigger though.

the problem with the barrel is that i cannot find a gauge that really works. i had to use several layers of a smaller gauge cut into pieces to get it even that big. the edges have have been sanded down, so its corners are now rounded off, feels great in the hands glad you guys approve thus far

the problem is that the gauges i can find are either too small or too big, hardware stores elude me of such things i found a similar problem with tring to make a telescopic looking device for a steampunk rifle i worked upon.

I love the build so far. Are you going to add bayonet lugs to it too?

bayonet lugs would be awesome, but any sign of a blade may upset people, so i'm playing on the safe side. all right, as i said, the edges are smoothed down, it feels really comfortable in the hands. ive added extra sights/barrels to the front, applied some detailing to areas, added two aquilla, one on each side. the charge pack has been added, i've reworked alittle of the body, to make the change from gun to mag housing more fluid. added some button/dial thing to one side, (most of the things im doing are on the actual models) i am planning to add a slide switch to adjust the power of the shot, still unsure if it should be a simple oblong like one of the pictures suggests, or if i should have a raised section for a skull. a purity seal will be added on the other side to the power slider, the stock is detachable, so it can be a carbine or a standard rifle (i might make an attachment later which looks like a large silencer to represent a long las, but thats info based from the uplifting primer which suggests lasguns, carbines and long las weapons are only different due to the lens, which is interchangeable.) but yeah, its shaping up, pretty soon it will be ready to prime. below is the plate i plan to add to start work on the slider, but again, don't know if i should leave room for a skull atop it.. as you can see, it is fairly well sized for a rifle, at least in my opinion. apologies if you are offended by my lack of tshirt, its a bloody hot day here in California right now.

Kommissar, great work. The lasgun is awesome...
The only thing I could suggest would be to check out army and navy stores for a proper russian greatcoat to build yours from. While the colours good the coat look a little "soft" for a frontline material. The military uniforms of WW2 were really stiff and ichy ... but they have a brilliant look. Currently your jacket looks like a converted overcoat, its a little baggy and bulky and not "fitted" enough...
That's the only nitpick I could make - great work!

okay, i decided to add the skull in the end, and then proceeded to prime the thing. this is a more verghast model.. and the carbine 'look' with my two stocks. pimp my lasgun? little disappointed that the green stuff hasnt filled as many gaps as i believed it would have, but all in all its looking good. i plan to pin the purity seal on pretty soon.

That looks the business. Is it worth "scuffing up" the model and putting in wear and tear (or are your going to paint those details...?
