I contemplated painting the large shoulder pads completey gold, and I may see how it looks once more detail has been added. Nope. Don't even think about it Red is the answer, due to the Rule of Triangle; >clears voice and fires up Powerpoint< Most minis use a spot colour on a hat/helmet and cuffs/shield. As you've done your spot colour at the bottom, the dark red will look best on the shoulders. It'll also contast the gold better, showing off the detail and breaking up what would otherwise be a very gold/flesh, similarly toned, area. Now that that's done, it's looking bloody fantastic. Great job on the gold, I've had problems in the past with too much silver as the uppermost highlight, which looks wrong. You've seemed to find a good amount!

Ah, but don't forget that Celestine has a huge cloak that's being held out behind her shoulders by cherub-servitors; on most Celestine examples I've seen (and how I'm painting mine) that large cloak is red... Oh, and Paimon, Cosmic isn't being mean by not showing you the progress. Imagine what a mess it'd make if you exploded all over the IGMB. The cleaning servitors would have quite a task cleaning up the carnage.

Well I am keeping them white, contrasts better with everything out. Well, you all and Paimon can see her now, sword, flowers, cloak and all....... I was happy with the sword, but now I'm not. My Airbrush seems to have spattered the paint out, not gently spray it. I'll go rectify this momentarily. I'll also be going into town to get some more paints for the skin.

Coooouuuurrr! She's looking good! Paimon is one Lucky Lady. @cosmic, on the rippled blanket did you use a darker red on the inside or did you layer a wash on them? I really do like the paint effect you have put on the sword, may try that myself. Major Downer

Nope, just layers. No washes at all. I mixed a very dark crimson using Brown, Red and Black. Then went up a couple of notches with more Red, then pure Red, and then a highlight with some added white. I did it very quickly, I didn't give the previous layer a chance to fully dry, the wetness helps it blend better. Well the basing has begun, as well as the face and the cherubs (the cherubs have literally just had a wash that's why they're a little dark and shiny)... The other sisters have had their bases stoned and sanded, and I'll be changing their loincloths to a the same Red as Celestine.

huh, you know you've done a good job when you make other people pick up an interest in Sisters of Battle just from seeing a few of the models you've painted. Would be fun to get a handful of them to take as allies

I like the Sisters for the same reason that I like the Guard. Normal humans VS scary monsters.

Definitely. That's one of the big reasons I love the guard so much. Lasgun and some guts behind it. Never had much of a look at Sisters though, never even seen them on the tabletop (though I rarely play outside of my usual group), they seem pretty interesting though

I'm not a huge fan of the stereotypical 'Kill everything that moves' axe crazy sisters, I think that there is enough flexibility in the fluff that I can make mine (relatively) more moderate. I do like the kill it with fire philosophy though.

Yeah, my first real glimpse of the Sisters before was from the last expansion of the first Dawn of War series. Just rather zealous and irrational, didn't care for them much back then

Looking great, Cosmic! How are you finding her balancing with the 25 mm base? I felt she was so top heavy that I decided to mount mine on a 40 mm base to prevent her from toppling over. (Is the one you're painting metal or Finecast?)

(Is the one you're painting metal or Finecast?) Despite being metal she's actually very well balanced on her, I've had plastic models fall over more times than her! She'll be better a 40mm base, and the 25mm will slot in the top Thank you Paimon, another picture will be up in the next hour.
