Today on my walk around the lakes I saw: What I think is a Cormorant, a Red-bellied Woodpecker, many squirrelifers, an employee of one of the defense contractors just down the street from my development practicing really bad OpSec, and two cicadas that were either having a battle to the death or some major sexy-time.

Fixed. Also, bug sex is a battle to the death.

Well, the election in Scotland seems to be running smoothly. Wonder if I can pipe some music thru the library today.

Well, the election in Scotland seems to be running smoothly. Wonder if I can pipe some music thru the library today. Even if they don't vote for independence, I imagine watching England's attitude switch abruptly from condescending disdain to panicked flailing was worth the whole ordeal.

Haha, you're right there, Reds. It looks like Scotland may get best out of the deal -- they'll stay in the UK but get "devo max." I think that "Yes winning" poll was a fluke, but maybe I'll eat my words in a few hours. Sounds like huge turnout, including 16- and 17-year-olds!
I shouldn't stay up to learn the results (work at 9 tomorrow) but I probably will anyway.

From what I'm hearing, "No" is winning by 3-5%, which is what most of the polls have been saying, I think?
In the event of a "No", watch for the following to complete your Independence Bid Punch Card!
- Frantic backpedaling on promises made to try and keep Scotland - The media saying Scotland/England/Europe will Never Be The Same. - British Politicians all smugly proclaiming they knew it would be a No vote after discretely changing their soiled trousers - David Cameron or a member of the Royal family making an offensive or condescending comment about Scotland "by accident". - Vladimir Putin sending kilt-wearing Russian soldiers to Scotland, claiming they're "local volunteers", and saying he's protecting Russians in Scotland - At least one burning haggis thrown through a store window in an attempt to start a riot - A bagpipe dance fight between the Yes and No camps.

Well they won by 10%, now we get to vote to kick the 45% out? Heh, it sounds like the politicians have already started to delay the devolution plans Although if they dont they have said England will be more powers the problem we have is that the UK government spends £1,600 per person more on the scots than the english purly because theyre better at moaning than us.

Today at the range, the flamboyantly flaming dandy who was part of the group using the lane next to the one my friends and I were using, and who had never shot a gun before, probably should have spent more time reading up on and studying basic gun safety rules and procedures than on planning his outfit (who wears a lavender scarf and fancy pointy shoes along with a shirt that looked like it had sequins on it to a range?). Fortunately, the only casualty he caused when he lost control of the "assault rifle" the "instructor" with his group handed him to start the day off with (instead of one of the pistols that had also been laid out for the group) and shot the ceiling was a fluorescent light tube. The Range Safety Officer was not amused, nor was I, and neither were my friends... There is a time and place for a man to be fabulous and suck, and at a range while holding a live weapon is definitely not it. In other news, though, my newest acquisition shot most excellently, and I am most pleased with it. I think my friend who got a cheaper version of the same gun back in July may actually be somewhat jealous now, and is thinking about ways to upgrade his to make it more accurate.

Trooper, since I occasionally shoot targets with arrows I can appreciate the enjoyment spent at a range.
I want to get into airsoft though as moving targets sound more fun!

I have to be honest if that fool shot the ceiling unintentionally while I was there I would have simply left. Get the hell out of there man. Politely ask for a refund and vacate.
I've been around people like that and have always been very wary of what was going to happen. Now I just control my situation and leave.

You do know that flourescent tubes and CFL bulbs contain mercury in the dust inside, right? That's poisonous/ carcinogenic....
Usually in hospitals (only) the tube is shatterproof, although they're never bulletproof.
Tread - do you use a modern composite bow or old fashioned longbow?

Rook: Actually we probably could have asked the RSO to kick them out (since all three of us are friends with him to the point that he feels comfy coming up to us and joking with us/insulting us/making fun of us with a sly wink and nod). However, he started hovering over them, and asked us to also keep an eye on them. Fortunately they didn't do anything stupid after that, but I'm glad I wasn't at the firing line in our lane when it happened...
Chem: Mercury, yeah. But since we were in an enclosed range, the amount of mercury dust we were exposed to was likely vastly outweighed by the amount of lead dust, plus combustion by-products from the gunpowder.

Hi, Kommmissar Orren. How's life?
Are you running Guard again?

Life is good, gonna start college this spring.
I always run Guard. Everything else was just a horrible mistake. (Okay, maybe the GKs weren't the worst mistake, but I only bought a small army of them.)

Good to hear it.
Do you see you can take 2 Leman Russ as an HQ choice now?
I became a marine player. Never read the Soul Drinkers books, Orren. They're full of heresy... And we get to reroll all bolter/ boltpistol/ heavy bolter/ stormbolter rolls of 1 (even on rhinos etc) and our devs get 'tank hunters'. (Imperial Fist tactics)

What? They have a new codex too? They got even more cheesy?
Hey, the Tau have cool guns okay? I just want their guns.
And yeah, but I feel like the 2 Leman Russ for HQ is weird. I mean, you can take more Leman Russ tanks though. They also took out so many characters and I'm crying because my opponent will never know the glory of an entire mechanized platoon arriving from the table edge and destroying their hopes and dreams in a surge of flesh and metal.

The new buggy/ Imperial short bus put me off updating my guard and I have some sweet new IG infantry with cadian bodies, chem-inhaler backpacks and Victoria Lamb metal gas-mask heads, too. That thing is so ugly. The only good one is in Ashot-Ninja's thread in the Pictures board, but he completely remade the thing from the ground up.. (I blew Emptyhat's one up in a game a few months ago ) The SM codex was before Orks and Grey Knights. Chapter tactics makes Ultras quite mediocre compared to Fists/ successors, which is a shame as they get most of the Special Charcaters (who are restricted by chapter tactics as to which army they can join, unless you ally one type of marine group with another). The Iron Hand one can be mental if you go either infantry heavy, dread heavy or msu vehicle spam. Vehicles get 'it will not die' and the infantry all get 6++ because of their bionics. Forge World CTs are OK - I like the Red Scorpion one ; all tac squads get a free apothecary upgrade for the sgt.
