Can't be done. I take my basement with me, in my heart, wherever I go. I impose its territory on my surroundings. You've been in my basement. You are in my basement.
You never left.

You've been in my basement. You are in my basement. You never left. There was never a Matrix? This band of brigands is growing and clearly need to be brought to Imperial Justice.

Today I discovered that Aladdin's monkey is Megatron. This makes me way more happy than it should.

Yesterday was the first day of Pre-Winter.
For those who don't understand how seasons work in Minnesota, here's a brief primer. There are five seasons in Minnesota: Almost Winter, Pre-Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Road Construction. Almost Winter is what we would charitably call Autumn or Fall, although most of it has less to do with leaves falling off of trees and more to do with increasing levels of cold. Pre-Winter edges in some time between the end of October and Thanksgiving Weekend, and is when we get our first snowfall. Winter is much like one would expect elsewhere in the northern latitudes of the world, although probably with more ice (it is a common misconception that we get a lot of snow in winter. What we usually get is several inches of ice, with the occasional day where it warms up enough for snow just to keep us from getting bored). Still Winter roughly corresponds to spring elsewhere in the world, except for the first month or month-and-a-half, where there's still snow on the ground. Finally, Road Construction season is what we call our summers, where we spend a lot of time and money repairing all the damage the ice and snow did to our roads and sidewalks. Incidentally, Still Winter is when driving becomes more dangerous because all the multiple-inch-deep potholes that were once filled by ice are no longer filled, and the roads are sometimes littered with them.
tl;dr: It gets cold up here in the winter, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

I was telling a co-worker from Pakistan about your winters, Sharps. I think I scared her.

Skiing clothes are actually great for dealing with harsh weather. I found a pair of skiing trousers that I bought 5 years ago, in the 'Dam, and they've sorted me out this year. I was shivering like a leaf last week with all the cold winds and rain. Now I don't care about the weather anymore... Or was she scared about the basement? But the Basement is everywhere. It is everything... It is all knowing and all consuming and at the same time an instant door into the Webway.

This band of brigands is growing and clearly need to be brought to Imperial Justice. It's currently looking like it's going to be a Dark Eldar/Mercs faceoff for the first TW game. The Renegades aren't going to be deployed until I either get to the COIN scenarios, or I get enough of them to make them not hilariously weak against trained troops. Same goes for Orks.

"I like to keep this handy... For close encounters." A sawn off Ithaca 37 airsoft shotgun, which will serve as the basis for fabricating Hicks' shotgun. Edit: A few hours later and this has happened: I think the phrase I've applied to the receiver is an appropriate variation on "EAT THIS!" I'm also putting some near-final detailing on the Pulse rifle.

In case anyone cared I am still alive.
I am encountering a certain bit of trouble finding gainful employment. I just may need to start a thread to track my progress. Perhaps a "Rook's Guerrilla Guide to Gainful Employment" needs to be started.
Not only am I not gainfully employed but I am going through a severe bout of procrastination about my screen play writing. Any tips to stay on course?

Glad to see you're still about, Rook. The real trick for screen writing is removing distractions, be they electronic, or a hobby or pastime you do instead of working on writing. Unplugging your computer and TV, keeping yourself from your favorite procrastination activities (and anything that would make you think of them), etc, should help a bit. Each person is different in what motivates them to get something done, though, so your best bet is to think about what really lights a fire under you, and apply it to your writing process.
I don't know how you write but having something you want to expand on, or get to in the story, is usually extremely helpful. This doesn't necessarily take the form of putting the narrative on the page, though. Brainstorming characters, then figuring out how to use them and introduce them, mapping ideas in an outline of a certain part of the plot, or writing a specific scene you want to happen, then working on how to connect it in to the narrative, can all give you a jumpstart if you find motivation lacking.

Think of working as procrastination for writing, and writing as procrastination for working. Then you can always be procrastinating while getting things done.

I have to work from home for my cartooning, but only because I can't lug a 400+ pound, 1/16th" sheet steel construction drafting table to the nearest coffee shop, and they won't let me play my music and sing along as I draw. I suggest you do some experimentation and find what gets your creative juices flowing, and do it in connection to your writing (I, as previously stated, listen to music while I draw).
In other news, Firefly Online is apparently going to be a thing in 2015. Also, it's going to be 2015 in a month and a half. Good god.
