Are you gonna have the bio-plasma fexes outflank?

Sadly it only works with troops...
so...hormagaunts maybe.
Also..I just bought 20 feeder tendril heads from the warstore...and some extra bits to make my very own Tyranid Prime.

Yeah, it's a shame there was some confusion between the tyranid prime and the trygon prime in the pre-release rumors. I so wanted to just buy three of the trygon kits and some gargoyle, and make a list.

Alright, after some thought I think I may mod my carnifexes a little bit, make them all screamer killers(x2 talons + bioplasma) crusher claws have never really been worth it...and all said and done the stranglethorn cannon isn't all that great...for the same price I can get x2 talons and bioplasma. Afterward I'll drop the spore mines and have enough points to add in the Alpha Warrior as my second HQ with a deathspitter, lashwhip and bonesword plus adrenal glands.
still keeping my list a nice even 2500 points(and making some room for a trygon or two as I push up toward 3000 in the coming months.)
For the Alpha Warrior I'm going to be using a warrior model as the base and bulk him up with armor plates and greenstuff, giving him the lash whip and bonesword left over from my tyrant and an oversized deathspitter from somewhere(carnifex maybe?) So I plan on putting him on a 60mm base for some extra stability. Normally I'd just do it and think nothing of it...but come to read that the lash whip effects every model in base contact...so do you think putting him on a large base would be considered cheesy?

Is this something that isn't out yet? If so, you should find out the approximate size of the mini, then make your best judgment. After it comes out, you can re-base it if necessary.
If this is just a normal warrior, but on the juice, use a weighted base.

He is a warrior with higher stats and better armor...40mm might be the way to go...
They currently do not make a model for him, and I have visions of him getting knocked over a lot with those metal arms making him top heavy...maybe weights will work.

Also..I just bought 20 feeder tendril heads from the warstore...and some extra bits to make my very own Tyranid Prime. That's amazing! Ymgarl 'stealers sound like cc beasts. How much did those 20 heads set you back?

Way way too much...
$3.99 each *cringe* I have a problem.
Oh well...at least I won't have to worry about it ever again.
I really love my Genestealers.

In six months they'll release a FAQ/Errata that says the stealers (or whatever you're using) can't use the feeder tendrils.

nah, feeder tendrils are no longer a bio upgrade...
the codex says that all Ymgarl Genestealers have maws of writhing tentacles...so I'm going for pure WYSIWYG.

Yikes! *does the maths!* Wow!
I suppose it's better than getting the genestealer boxed set over and over. The tentacle head is one thing, but have you read the fluff on Ymgarl 'stealers - the mutable bodies, and that. It's a modellers dream. I reckon some 'nid collectors will really go to town converting that up.

I'm just going for the heads and extended carapace...the mutation ability won't be represented on the model(kinda impossible to do wysiwyg with random mutations anyway...thinking about units like chaos possessed, penal troopers and the like)...besides I like some degree of uniformity...the only other way I see doing it is to make each stealer a random mess...something like genestealer meets chaos spawn.

Which would also be an interesting project.

Mutant 'stealers! Sounds very exciting (I'm such a geek!). The spawn kit is quite fun for that.

I do love me some chaos spawn...I have six!(didn't bols vote them worst unit in 40k? Heh...well I think they're fun.)
More Nids!
Tyranid Prime +bonesword and lashwhip +deathspitter=100
5 warriors +deathspitters=175
20 termagants=100
10 Genestealers + Brood Lord=200
Carnifex +bioplasma=180
total 755
Likely to be the first list I actually use with the new codex...most of it is painted and ready, just gotta get my hands on that tyranid prime(I should get the bits I need some time this week, If I'm lucky I'll get to play this coming weekend.) some tweaking might be called for...keeping in mind what I have above and my preference for genestealers.
This is mostly to get a feel for the new rules and such...should be good times.

I think the mawloc would be more fun than the carnifex. But then I fell in love with it at first sight...

The list looks good for a 750. The carnifex alone will make the foe concentrate all anti-tank on it. Req may have a point about the mawloc, but the 'fex kit is only a few years older than the mawloc in either case.
Carnifex pros - stronger, cheaper, erm.. that's it. Oh. More options.
Mawloc pros - deep strike, burrows, more wounds..
Plus they're roughly the same points. Mawlocs can't be shooty.. Six wounds, man...Burrowing, deep striking monstrosity, or a plasma 'fex?

This is true...
but I won't be getting a trygon or mawloc till at least the end of feburary...I've got my fingers crossed that Ymmit will pick one up for my birthday(I told him all about it shortly after unveiling the one hundred and fifty dollar transformer I bought him for christmas...and reminded him that my birthday was only a few months away...)
I think I want a Trygon though...I need more synapses.

Only the trygon prime is synapse. But you really can't argue with the 20 angry shots that thing fires at (I think) 18" with the hook thingy upgrades. I really want one of those too.

Right, the trygon prime is the one I want the most I think, possibly two...
only 12 shots each...S5 AP5 good times!
My Tyranid Prime(Who I will be calling my Alpha Warrior...at least for now as it will help avoid confusion.) is going to use a warrior as a base...figure I'll bulk out his joints with a bit of green stuff then cover any unsightliness with armored plates, add monsterous sized death spitter and metal bonesword and lashwhip left over from way back when I got my hive tyrant...and I think that oughta do nicely.
Wish me luck that it turns out as good as my Space Wolves Dreadnought and it oughta come together pretty convincingly.

Twelve? Something about it had the number 20... maybe that's the cost of the spines? Or do they come with the prime upgrade...
!!! Optimus Trygon Prime! I may have just convinced myself to start a 'nid army...
