Just because I'm an old Slann doesn't mean I'm odd!

Yes it does. You're almost half as odd as I.

I agree the labelled stormies do look like the type you'd see charging a heavily fortified position, or dismounting from a dedicated transport. Kaskrin seem more like veterans to me, not sure if it's the paint job on them tho, guess it's down to simlar colours ot the normal infantry.

I disagree. The Kasrkins look more stormtroooper-ish to me. The old ones didn't even have pace on them did they? Anyways, a Stormy/Arbite/Veteran box would be cool!

depends what you mean by the old ones - the plastic ones from 2nd ed, or the metal ones. The metal ones certainly have some form of additional armour... not sure it quite competes with kasrkin carapace though.
I always had the impression from the kasrkin models (and the way they were described) that they were basically veterans though - similar training to Stormies and same weaponry, but not actually stormies. Personal preferances though...

I thought fluff said that unlike stormies, the karskin were trained on Cadia, but have the same wargear as the stormies.

which would (in theory and my opinion) mean they aren't actually stormies. Potato Potarto?

I would say it makes them better than Stormies, as the Inquisition hasn't been toying around in their brains for "Heweswy".

I still prefer kaskrins but then again stories just remind me of ww1 germans even their helmets do. and they don't really fit in with the look of my army but kaskrins do so swings and roundabouts.
Also aren't stormies the sons of nobles who died or were killed? they get adopted by the inquisition and taught/trained from children to be stormies, kaskrins im not sure but to me would just be the normal cadians, as a cadian who can't field strip a lasgun by the age of 10 isn't a cadian!

- Catachans exist, but seems to be mostly laughed at, which is understandable even if I like them. Catachans used to be bad ass. GW should have given them their own rules. What ever happened to booby traps and 6 a inch shooting range for the enemy. How does a guy with a singlet on have the same armour save as a cadian??? What happened to WYSIWYG?? I love catachans, half my army is catachans, But GW hit a nerve with the new dex...... Anyways, back to plastic stormies.... Bring em on!!!!

ok let's just settle this, they should just make it all plastic! i'm still not sure why they even have a lot of metal models -_- i know they cut back alot when they started in the US but still should be cheaper to use plastic then metal plus total would be cheaper down to only using one supplier and buying more should get a reduced rate.

Sounds like a good way for them to increase their prices to Plastic Mordians... I could see that being an interesting and potentially useful kit actually (two very good reasons it wouldn't happen...) I still can't believe it's been so long since that old concept green of the shotgun wielding stormtrooper (at least that's what it allegedly was... always seemed more of a vet to me but meh). Just as random conjecture, if rumours prove reasonably correct and GW are making new a new Inquisition codex (and GK/SoB codexes) are we going to surmise that we'll have to wait for that codex before the plastic stormies arrive? I only suggest this because stormies are Elites for Guard (hence less in demand) whereas they'd be troops in an Inquisition army (possibly the only/main troops choice).

Hopefully this wont be too terribly long as they also (most likely) will be getting the Blood Angels new Stormraven.... hopefully

Actually the shotgun armed Arbites might be cheaper without the hellgun, so cost effective stormies might still live. We shall see.

the design isn't really the problem, it's the material. Can't make them very unique in metal, can't even vary their stances and that without quite some work.
