That's quite the spiffy AC chimera.

Cheers ElegaicRequiem, I have a few more of them, bit of a theme with this army. Unfortunately though Photobucket is playing up and doesn't seem to want to allow me to put up any more pics, so will have to get some new ones.

Like someone said previously in the thread, I usually can't stand Ultramarines. These guys though look awesome. Also, guardsmen are much cooler than marines. Just a small, tiny little detail that is just bugging me ever so slightly; the bedroll on the right side of the chimera just looks really weird. It's just a weird place to put it (hard to get, no obvious way it is attached), it looks like it would fall of at the slightest touch and frankly looks like it's just been glued on. The one on the Devil Dog looks much better. Except for that these guys look really good. Excellent paint job all over. The bodyguards are a great use of the door gunners (even if the models themselves have a slightly comical pose), the vehicles are all converted to perfection and they all look like they actually are an Ultramar PDF, not just some regiment who works there. At second glance, still awesome although I would like to see some dirt and mud on the vehicles. Especially the lower parts of the hulls and the tracks. Excellent work!

Cheers guys, Egon, I know what you mean. If I'm honest the Chimeras have their bed rolls there as an easy way to cover up the conversion setting the turret ring further back, but I have seen real world tanks with stowage tied off in a similar way. I might actually make up some paniers to put them in instead which might resolve that, secret weapon make some lovely brass ones which I have sitting in my bits box. And I know what you mean about the door gunners, they aren't the best sculpts, they look a little "squat", but I envisage these guys as pretty beaten up in any case. And i do plan on doing some light weathering (the guys from Macragge like to keep things parade fresh!) once everythings varnished. Hopefully photobucket is playing nice now, some more Chimera pics. Infantry Platoon Chimera 190 and 450: For some reason Photobucket keeps telling me some of the pics have been moved or deleted, even though I have only just uploaded them? I don't think I have exceeded my bandwidth as there aren't that many photos, I will see if I can sort it out as I have quite a few more pics to show.

I'm a fan of Imgur rather than photobucket, I think it tends to be more robust, and I see far fewer deletions of images. Also these models are amazing. The decals add a lot more than I would have thought.

Amazing. What turret is that on the chimeras? Your paint work is crazy good.
Edit never mind figured out the turret.

The turret is from a predator isn't it?

This is one stunning army you have here sir!
It looks very Ultramarine-esque while clearly being a PDF force, just how I imagine them.
I love the idea of Hector Sicarius. A Cousin or even a brother of the man himself?

Hi Cosmic, Unfortunately I can't take credit for the idea of the Chimera conversions, I copied a chap on Warseer called Bungaroo. It's a pretty simple conversion as long as you have a decent razor saw. There's a tutorial here: www.librarium-online.com/forums/imperial-guard/193191-chimera-conversion-set-back-turret.htmlI changed it a bit by adding the Predator turrets but it works just as well with a standard Chimera turret, I just wanted to include quite a few Marine influences in this army. Should hopefully have some new photos to put up tomorrow.

Hey Straightsilver. Really digging your army here. I usually prefer a more real life look, with effective camo and weathering, but given their situation I think it works really well. Despite someone asking a little while back for weathering, with this army, I think the nice clean look you have accomplished so well with your men and armour is perfect. Especially with your army hailing form Macragge. Harking back to the beginning of the thread I actually really like your Straken representation. He certainly looks beat up enough for me to see he should be tougher than the usual imperial guardsman and the bionics easily show he has more strength. Most people do see swords as fast slicing weapons and so his rules allowing him to damage vehicles doesn't fit most peoples perceptions. I think it can work, but you could swap the sword for an a hammer maybe? That way the strength boost can be more easily accepted. I love him though, along with your terminator reference. I would also like to say I think have a sergeant without a re breather on your second squad looks great. It makes him look tougher than the rest, like he really deserves to lead the squad. It adds to the diversity, like you said, too which is always good in my opinion. You could always say that he has received some minor genetic enhancements if someone complains. I mean he is serving the military force that protects one of the most wealthy space marine chapters in the galaxy. In short, love the army. Looks really nice and the crisp paint job really suits the theme. And is really impressive. I must ask though. Any possibility of a group picture? I think your army is made to be seen on parade Purple Dice

The colours work so well together and really are immaculate, it's ironic that in my "themes for cool armies" thread I'd mentionned starting an army similar to this one.
How do you manage to get such a strong, thickness to your ultramarine blue ? Do you basecoat with ice blue first ?

Oh by the way (I really don't want to hijack the thread here, please reply only briefly if at all). Greetings to all IGMB members. I've been lurking for quite some time now but have only recently reached a point that I can focus as much as I have wanted to on our wonderful hobby.
The board has provided unending inspiration throughout the years and many a time have I had the urge to jump off the computer and get cracking on one of my multitude of projects! So a big 'thank you' to all of you on here.
I just hope I can give back enough to this great community.

As with some other posters, I am not a fan of the Smurfs, but your army looks really good. The blues just look really vibrant and clean on your armour. Keep up the fantastic work man.
