Decorate it with bits of Minotaurs, I hate Minotaurs.

I return to painting! Pauldron re-paints and touch up work on the 6" Black Series Sandtroopers. Sergeant: [/URL] Corporal/squad leader (Captain?): [/URL] Privates: [/URL] Three more Sandies arrived this morning and I will be getting to them in a bit. I've got to get one more and I'll have a full squad. This is what a stock figure looks like: [/URL] Touch up work included painting the soles of their boots black, cleaning up areas around the joints (especially the actuation pins which were white for some reason even in areas where they ran through the black bodysuit), the MP-40 pouches on their hips, and cleaning up the aerator tips on the helmets. The sergeant's pauldron was re-painted with multiple coats of White Scar, then washed with Argax Earthshade. The corporal's pauldron was repainted with the old Blazing Orange, and also washed with Argax. The privates had their pauldrons repainted with a layer or two of Abaddon Black. Aerator tips were painted with Abaddon Black, then spotted with Chainmail.

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering why I re-painted the pauldron of the corporal/squad leader (or captain depending on source) from orange to orange it was because the Argax wash wouldn't distribute properly on the original paint (the material seems fairly hydrophobic), so I had to give it a good surface to distribute over. The good news is that Citadel paints seem to really adhere nicely to the material the figures are made out of, so long as they haven't been overly thinned with water.

I've now started in on re-painting and weathering the 6" Black Series Sandtrooper's backpacks to make them look more screen-accurate. On the right is the stock backpack, on the left is a re-painted one. I had to scrape mold lines, and then redo the white areas, as well as expand the white area around the keypad, which wasn't painted properly (it was left black), as well as redoing all the blue-gray containers and painting areas that should also be that color but were left black, adding details to the "radio pack" and then washing the white with Argax, and dry brushing the whole thing with Terminatus Stone. This may be selfish of me, then again others may benefit. Could you add the [ img] tags to the links in the future? Phones don't like loading the photobucket site and with the links we don't need to Nice figures also Thanks! I'm not sure what may be going on with your phone, as I am posting the img tags, and it should be showing the photo within the thread, and not taking you to Photobucket... Photobucket did just recently change something on the site, though, as when I try to upload a photo it now tries to dump it into a generic spot, and doesn't give the option to put it into a chosen album from the upload page--I now have to go into an album and then upload the image into it... I just checked my previous posts, and something is screwed up... I was copying the img tag, but for some reason when I pasted it into the post, as I've always done in the past, a url link was added preceeding with the img tag (and this url didn't show up at all when I was pasting the img tag). I've never seen this happen until now, and I'm blaming Photobucket. I've stripped the url codes out, please let me know if this fixes the problem on your phone. I'm still seeing the photo displayed normally...

Yeah it's loading them normally, how strange. .. I've noticed a lot of people doing it recently so I'm inclined to blame photobucket also I'm far too lazy for my own good

*Homer Simpson voice* "Soooooo lazy..." I'm having lots of fun customizing the Sandies. They are some of the best Star Wars toys I've ever had, but they aren't perfect, and it is a delight doing touch-up work on them to make them look more screen-accurate. I'm waiting for Argax was on the second backpack I've touched up to dry so I can go after it with the dry brush. Imma have to build myself some sort of desert display table, or possibly Docking Bay 94, to stick them on.

What's it's weapon skill and how many attacks does it get? It's a Rending Dachshund, and all of its attacks are Destroyer weapons and it has a WS 10.

This is common knowledge, mugshot. If I ever need to destroy a Reaver titan there's nothing quite like drop podding a pack of sausage dogs near it.

Hah!
Great painting, Trooper. I want to see more animals with different fur tones.

That is my goal. I want to do one red dachshund, to represent Tammy who was the dog that Shadow replaced (and my entry is painted to represent Shadow, since he's has a green harness). I need to do representations of L'il Man (also black and tan, but a red harness), Delta (black and tan, but with a "frosted face" and a purple harness), Avery (black and tan that my parents got when I was in my first semester of undergrad), and Ommi & Hammy (black and tans who were either sister and brother or mother and son, but I only knew Hammy because Ommi died before I reached the point where we form memories, my parents had when I was born). Then I also need to see if I can replicate the brindle pattern to represent Pepper (the ferocious squirrel killer we had when I was a kid) and her mom, Peeps (but Peeps was a wire haired so I'm going to have to liquid GS and stipple the mini to replicate the coat pattern).

Brindle should be interesting but tough to paint. Like brown with darker brown tiger stripes.

It's more of a brown with darker hairs mixed in, but not in any organized pattern...

What insanity is this? I've been up all night painting this bastard. The second rust wash is drying. Still have to detail the door and paint all 8 heavy bolter emplacements.

Heh. Not where I got the one pictured above from... I got my Bastion (and Skyshield landing pad) kits back when they were first released. Still need to actually build the Skyshield kit. Once I get the Super-Bastion finished, I get to start in on the Mega-Bastion, which is 4 levels tall, plus the battlement, and has an annex sticking off of its base level... I'm guessing it will take me the better part of a week to paint.

They are sweet, the sky Shields too. .. It's just a shame they're not applicable to the table I want to end up with

I've got a four tier, with an annex off of the base level (the Mega-Bastion) that is glowering at me from the table o' stuff that still needs to be painted.
