Thanks again for the ideas guys. I'm suddenly smitten with the idea of werewolves and yetis in this force. In fact, I can't get them out of my head.
I picture a Valkyrie flying low over the battlefield and dropping a giant cage of werewolves into the fray...

I think that Polar Bears would be even more awesome for the Valkyrie to drop...

But my kids had chicken pox and that nixed my participation. Zehr lame. Thanks Nurgle. But now your kids are immortal! And Soviet penal legion werewolves... you may be onto something.

So I’m on a bit of a break. By that I mean from painting, sorta. School is out for 2 weeks, work is the busiest it gets during the year and I’m just burned out all around. But I’ve ACTUALLY PLAYED some 40k in the last few weeks which is quite the change. All I can really say about that is I fought hard for my 2 losses. The games were very close. I had a great time and it has inspired me towards some new schemes (I haven’t forgotten Soviet Werewolves.) Here are some shots from my game against my buddy’s 1k Deathwing Termi army (wince) and other buddy John’s 1k Nid army on my own tundra board: Yes, I rolled 10 hits in my assault. Not that it did much against 2+ saves but it was a morale boost.Yup, the melta gunner sliced off the dred's melta cannon, sparing my armor. Something fethed the dred in the same turn and rendered it into expense junk which makes artificers cry oil. Also, we killed Belial of the Dark Angels. Good times.During the hiatus I felt the pang to paint (hence the “sorta” above) so I got started on some Tyranid objective markers, in honor of my buddy who picked up 40k again after a 2 year absence and the renewed rivalry that is back on our shared tabletop. At very least, I can enjoy seeing my IG standing next to them with disgust on their indoctrinated faces. That's it for now, I'm finally finishing off the Medusa which I'll post up soon and I'll have some new Hardened Vets to kick out at some point soon. Also, my Valkyrie is on order again so we'll see how getting the air mobile off the ground goes.

Your army and game board looks so amazing together! A shame you didn't win against them.

I think it's a Tyranid hive node thingy from the 4th edition 40K box set, Battle for Macragge something or other--Smurfs vs. Nids. I've got one kicking around somewhere that I will someday have to paint if I start working on my Nids again...

You got a bunch of those in the old macragge set, along with a larger spiky orifice thing.
but you also get a few in various tyranid plastic kits...they come with genestealers and warriors and what not.

Looks great Yeti! IMO the digestion pit thingy shouldn't meld with the board, it highlights how out of place it is on one of the Emperor's holy worlds.

I think the infused color pops so much it just sorta freaks me out next to the dour Valhallans. But it is like you said, it is supposed to look out-of-place.

Okay, sorry for the silence folks. Been really, really busy with family, work, school and also, BFG. I finished off a few BFG related projects and the deck is cleared for something I mentioned back in September: Valkyries for my IG.
As you may recall, I placed an order for a GW Valk to go with my Forge World Valk and Vulture, in September, via my game club. Believe it or not, I just received it TODAY. So, with the above in mind, I will be making new flying bases for the 2 FW and 1 GW models.
I do not play competitively and so would like to make the bases slightly bigger, more stable and better looking than the GW ones.
So to my question:
Q: Do you guys see any gaming issues (not tourney/competitive issues) with a flying base that is slightly bigger (wider) than the GW one?

Good to see you're alive and kicking Yeti!
I see no problems at all with a larger base, the way I see it it puts you at a disadvantage, so anyone that has issues with it ar either insanely pedantic or stupid.

I'm so happy to see your blog resurrect! I can't wait to see what you spew out this time!
The only gaming problem I can see is that they will be harder to place between terrain pieces and other minis, since it will take up more space.
