To Reds et al, I am totally honored! Thank you all for your support! It means a lot to me, more than you know. Today I am the proud owner of dual epidural injections to the L5 area of my spine, so no painting for another day or so. Soon as I get flexion back, I'll be working on the priest. Yes, Trooper, I'll try and make the bones "glowey" I think that is a fantastic idea! I'll try to base the light source out of Ice Blue as a start unless others have better ideas. Eeep! Hang in there Yeti. I hope that your back feels better... IIRC when I did the bones, I used a base of regal blue, then ultramarine blue, washed with the old blue ink, then highlighted with ultramarine plus increasing amounts of skull white, followed by a very final light drybrush of pure skull white. I think I nicked the formula from my friend who nicked it from his co-worker...

So here's some WIP of the Priest. Trooper: I start another class this Saturday so I needed to knock this guy out. I spent more time than usual on shading, layers and toning since he deserves more detail than the average trooper but I didn't want to tangle with glow effects and OSL. So here's the priest with base coats blocked in, prior to tones and highlites: Detail of the rusty reliquary: WIP of priest's face, pre-stain: Ready for stain: Post stain, still wet: So he's drying now. I'll add some scripture to the scrolls tomorrow, then Dull Cote and base. He'll be done and in the figure case by Saturday. Not totally sure what I'll paint next for the IG but I'll let you all know when I post final shot of the priest. Thanks for the support and feedback as always my friends.

The stain alone makes the bones look great! Excellent work.

He's looking really nice! I especially like the rust effect on the reliquary. I'm sorry that you didn't have the time to make the bones glowing, but you can always come back some day and revisit him and make it happen, right? Anyway, I know what you know about time. I'm approaching the end of week 3 of my first semester back in grad school, and I haven't had time to pick up a paint brush. Hopefully when the mini course that I am in finishes, and I'm only taking two courses I might have time to start painting again...

Top heavy? aren't you into that? Stick a washer on his base and he'll be ok. I use those annoying lumps of metal that latch onto minis, a few of those usually work a treat too

Has the Priest always come with a bionic arm? Wow, not only am I colorblind, I also need glasses!
Great work as always Yeti, this blog always gives me inspiration to work on my own miniatures.

I like the addition, and his rusty relic.
I hope your birthday finds you well, and relaxing (hopefully painting) in a setting of your choice.

The rust effect you acheived was a work of pure fine Art - amazingly realistic...
Yeti, you are quite simply awesome.

Thanks everybody! And thanks for the birthday wishes... my day was great, I share a birthday with my now 7 year old son. The wife made us a "battle cake" designed by my son, full of chocolate cake terrain and plastic army guys. Pics soon.
Birthday loot: I'm not one for presents but I got a ton of Memoir '44 stuff and some more history books for my birthday which is totally brilliant... kicked some Axis hiney in El Alamein/North Africa this afternoon and then read on the beach about Tubruk, Montgomery and Rommel.
Good times!
Best,

Love how they turned out! I know what you mean about having such a limited amount of time to per week to dedicate to painting. I just started a Krieg army in April, and the painting has been slow until I figured out a good color scheme. The washes are a life saver when it comes to adding that character and detail to your models. So much easier to work with when compared to the inks. Loving what youve done so far, keep up the good work. Hopefully I'll be able to post something about my boys here soon when I have them all finished.

Love how they turned out! I know what you mean about having such a limited amount of time to per week to dedicate to painting. To that point I didn't get much done this week besides build the Terminus Est for BFG and order a plastic Valkyrie. It isn't burn out, or work, or classes or birthdays or vacations it is simply taking a break. I played a game of BFG Wednesday night which was great fun (and made me want to work on my Nurgle Marines again) and then I played some Memoir '44 last night... I've realized over the last few days to take time to play... a big part of why you may be into minis to begin with

The power of Nurgle compels you! The power of Nurgle compels you! I'd love to see your Death Guard... Well, my Nurgle isn't traditional at all, obviously. The theme is fever and the colors are supposed to bring to mind hallucination as well as the color-coded visualizations you see of pathogen. Not sure any of that came across but hey, at least it is consistant. Here's a sample. If there is any interest I'll start a seperate thread...

Don't get me wrong, I like it, I just tend to associate that kind of color scheme with some of the Noise Marine armies I've seen. I for one would like to see more of them.
